Robert De Niro appears to be living his best life as he leaps into his 81st birthday with his daughter, Drena De Niro, close by his side. 

The Godfather actor celebrated his special day on Saturday and instead of opting for a quiet birthday, he embraced his daredevil side and leapt off the side of his yacht. 

In an impressive moment captured by his daughter, Drena, who he adopted during his marriage to Diahnne Abbott, the two-time Oscar winner could be seen wearing red and blue striped bathers as he dived into the ocean from the luxury yacht. 

Captioning the post, Drena wrote, ‘Happy 81st Bday to my Dad and #1 ride or die .. Love you with all my ♥️♥️♥️ #BobbyD forever.’

Drena continued to share multiple other photos in the carousel of images, including multiple throwback shots of Robert with her late son Leandro, who died last year at the age of 19.

Robert said that his grandson’s death, which was ruled an accident, had left him ‘deeply distressed’ and asked for ‘privacy’ as he and his family processed their grief. 

He later told People magazine: ‘It’s just a shock. [I] never thought it would happen.

‘And I just then started thinking about all the things I could have, should have done maybe with him.

‘I don’t know if that would’ve made a difference. And so that’s always playing through my mind.’

‘It shouldn’t have happened.’

As the family navigated their grief, Robert and Drena travelled to Florida and visited a mural created in Leandro’s honour.

Robert’s birthday comes just months after his youngest child, Gia, celebrated her first birthday. 

The actor shares his young daughter with girlfriend Tiffany Chen and recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight where he revealed the family celebrated Gia with a quiet birthday party. 

‘She had a little cake, it was very nice, sweet,’ he said.

Robert, who is also father to Drena, 56; Raphael, 47; twins Julian and Aaron, 28; Elliot, 26; and Helen Grace, 12, continued to express his love for his seventh child, calling her ‘pure joy’. 

‘There’s nothing about her, there’s no judgment, there’s no anything. She just is what she is, and it’s just pure joy, for god sakes,’ he said. 

The Taxi Driver star has previously revealed to Page Six that despite his older age, he and Tiffany planned to have baby Gia.

He admitted: ‘How you could not plan that kind of thing?’
