Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman have been pictured sharing an incredibly steamy moment on the set of their new film.

The two British Hollywood stars have been in Devon shooting scenes for The Roses – a remake of 1989 classic The War of the Roses – and sparks were flying between the two co-stars.

The 47-year-old Sherlock actor can be seen lifting up the 50-year-old Oscar winner onto the car bonnet as they leaned in for a kiss.

The movie looks sure to set people’s pulses racing when it hits the big screen, with Benedict and Olivia showing clear chemistry during the shoot on location.

They locked lips in a passionate embrace, rolling on the bonnet – and it looks like they’ll capture the spirit of the original movie.

The raunchy scenes were shot in June, with Benedict (Theo) sporting a navy blue cardigan over a white shirt paired with dark jeans, while Olivia’s Ivy wore a denim jacket, pink shirt and green trousers.

The pair’s film – directed by Jay Roach – sees them following in the footsteps of Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.

The big screen veterans starred in the 1989 film, which was directed by their co-star Danny DeVito – who played divorce a lawyer – and based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel of the same name.

In the remake, Benedict and Olivia take on the roles of a married couple whose relationship is slowly plagued by resentment, and descended into a black comedy based on their exaggerated hatred for each other.

The synopsis reads: ‘Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Theo and Ivy: successful careers, great kids, an enviable sex life.

‘But underneath the facade of the perfect family is a tinderbox of competition and resentments that’s ignited when Theo’s professional dreams come crashing down.’

Back in June, it was revealed that the cast would also feature the likes of Ncuti Gatwa, Kate McKinnon, Andy Samberg, Sunita Mani, Zoe Chao and more.

The new film will still be based on the 1981 novel, but it has been described as a ‘re-imagining’ of the original movie.

And Searchlight president Matthew Greenfield previously said: ‘The Roses is a wildly funny, bigger than life, and yet deeply human story.

‘With Jay at the helm, and Benedict and Olivia and Tony, we have a dream team bringing it to life’.
