A Hollywood actor was the victim of a savage edit that appeared to be a hilariously pointed comment about his filmography.

At the Democratic National Convention, the camera panned to Don Cheadle, 59, when Barack Obama, 63, said movie sequels were ‘usually worse.’

On X, viewers couldn’t help giggling at the camerawork and interpreted the cut as a dig at Don replacing Terence Howard in the critically panned Iron Man 2.

Don has also appeared in other sequels including Ocean’s Twelve and Space Jam: A New Legacy.

‘This cut to Don Cheadle right after Obama says sequels are usually worse did not factor in Iron Man 3, which is IMHO the best Marvel movie. Don doesn’t deserve that disrespect,’ @MarkSpatny commented.

Echoing their sentiment, @ariepatts joked: ‘Justice for Iron Man 2.’

@cheeeselain exclaimed: ‘THEY PUT ON DON CHEADLE WHEN OBAMA MADE A JOKE ABOUT MOVIE SEQUELS SUCKING LMAOOOOO.’

@RikaParty quipped: ‘Lmao I love production people, literally no chill.’

At the convention, former US president Obama warned the nation about the perils of re-electing Donald Trump, 78,

‘We do not need four more years of bluster and bumbling and chaos,’ he said.

Obama continued as the camera panned to Don: ‘We have seen that movie before and we all know that the sequel is usually worse. ‘

He concluded: ‘America is ready for a new chapter.’

After small roles in the 80s, Don first received widespread attention for his role in 1995 film Devil in a Blue Dress.

That decade, he appeared in other films including Boogie Nights, Bulworth and Rosewood.

Don was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar in 2004’s Hotel Rowanda and was the co-producer of Crash, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

He boosted his global recognition in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as War Machine in Iron Man 2 in 2010.

Don’s other Marvel roles include his Emmy Award-winning guest appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and animated series What If…?

He will also reportedly lead movie Armor Wars, which was originally devised as a Disney Plus series. Walter Goggins is also said to have joined the cast.
