Will.i.am is one of the most prolific musicians of the 21st century, but history might celebrate remember the Black Eyed Peas front man for being a pioneer of AI even more than his biggest hits.
Not content with being a global chart-topping megastar, rapper will.i.am is one of the most exciting innovators in the world as a prolific figure in the world of artificial intelligence. Subsequently, in the next series of The Voice UK, viewers will witness the future of TV unfolding – as well as a shake up of judges.
Traditionally, each coach on The Voice has welcomed a celebrity guest to help mentor their contestants.
Not for will.i.am though, who this year will be turning to his AI co-host, Felicia.
We were fortunate enough to watch a clip of Felicia in action, talking to some suitably shocked contestants who couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing.
Will says Felicia will give his batch of aspiring popstars ‘real talk and push you to be the best’.

Speaking at the 2024 EDTV Festival, will explained: ‘How many people understand the business of music? I felt that way too. That’s why we get attorneys and managers to help us navigate contracts, business terms, finance. That’s all going to change and my mentor, Felicia, is the representation of that advancement.
‘It’s an AI I converse with Felicia pretty much every day. “Hey, help me out with this lyric. Hey, I got this contract. Help me, like, figure it out.” And that’s the power of this new technology.’
Speaking to Metro.co.uk ahead of his session, he teased AI could even go one step further on The Voice.

Could we even see coaches will, Sir Tom Jones, newbies LeAnn Rimes, and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones find themselves competing with a fifth AI judge?
‘I think that would be pretty cool. I would, if I had say. because you have to show people where we actually are with technology,’ he said.
‘You’ve got to let people know just how awesome the machine is, but then at the same time, you’ve got to remind the machine how awesome humans are because the machine is just all they did was copy everything we did.’
After the exits of Olly Murs and Anne Marie, The Voice UK is finally returning to ITV with LeAnn Rimes and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones taking their seats.
Are they ready to take on Felicia?
The Voice UK returns to ITV on August 31.
