Lewis Hamilton Regrets Criticizing Mercedes in the ‘Heat of the Moment’ at Monaco

Its not often that we see Lewis Hamilton lose a Grand Prix, but this time at the Monaco Grand Prix that’s exactly what happened. Mercedes had a horrific weekend at Monte Carlo, as Lewis Hamilton came 7th and Valtteri Bottas had to retire after a botched pit stop. Hence, Hamilton was heavily critical of the team’s performance but now regrets his choice of words.

Now at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Hamilton and the Silver Arrows hope to bounce back and aim for a win as they zip around the streets of Baku. They will learn from their mistakes at Monte Carlo and use it to improve themselves in the sixth round of the championship.

Lewis Hamilton has some guilt over the choices of words

Speaking at the press conference, Hamilton said, “I think naturally in the heat of the moment, you don’t always say always the best things. I think constructive criticism is always a good thing, better said behind closed doors and that’s what we’ve been doing.”

“I think there was no one single person to blame. I was very much part of the decision-making process, and after going back and having a look, and analysing things. There are things that I could have said that would have set a domino effect on.”

“So we know that we could have done better and one race doesn’t define us. Of course you always try and do better in the future. As I said, we win and we lose as a team so we will push forwards and hope for better,Hamilton concluded.

Can Hamilton redeem himself in Baku?

The seven-time world champion had a tough weekend at Monaco. He only managed to qualify the seventh fastest for the race and crossed the line in the same position. He lost the lead in the championship as Max Verstappen won the race.

Now with the sixth round of the championship just days away, Lewis would aim for better performance at Baku and aim for a win. He currently sits in 2nd place in the standings behind rival, Verstappen.

However, Hamilton is planning to stay there any longer and would wish to reclaim the lead for this year’s championship. The only question remains will Hamilton keep his rivals in his rear-view mirrors and claim the victory? We just have to wait for the weekend to receive our answers.
