The West Wing star Bradley Whitford has ripped into fellow actor Cheryl Hines over her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The US presidential candidate announced last week that he is suspending his bid for the White House as an independent candidate.
He’s instead throwing his support behind Republican nominee and former US president Donald Trump.
But Whitford, 64, isn’t having any of it, and has taken aim at the politician’s wife, Curb Your Enthusiasm star Hines.
The Josh Lyman actor, who appeared on West Wing between 1999 and 2006, wrote on X: ‘Hey @CherylHines, way to stay silent while your lunatic husband throws his support behind [Trump] who brags about stripping women of their fundamental rights.
‘Gutsy. Great example for the kids. Profile in courage.’

Whitford shared a video of Trump thanking the US Supreme Court judges for scrapping abortion rights in overturning Roe v Wade.
Earlier this year, former president Trump was found liable of sexually abusing E Jean Carroll by a jury, but has not been found guilty of rape,
Carroll alleged that Trump raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman fitting room in the mid-1990s and that he defamed her when he called her case on his Truth Social platform ‘a Hoax and a lie’ and ‘a complete con job’.

According to The Washington Post, though the jury did not find Trump guilty of rape, the judge clarified that it was on a legal distinction.
‘The finding that Ms. Carroll failed to prove that she was ‘raped’ within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape’,’ he said.
‘Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.’

The judge said that New York’s definition of ‘rape’ is ‘far narrower’ than the word is understood in ‘common modern parlance,’ the publication noted.
Hines, 58, played Larry David’s wife, Cheryl, on Curb Your Enthusiasm. It was David who introduced her to Kennedy Jr, according to reports, and the pair married in 2014.
Earlier this year, Hines indicated she wasn’t standing by Trump, when her husband was asked by Variety if he would consider being Trump’s running mate.
He replied: ‘I don’t think my marriage would survive it,’ to which she said: ‘I think he’s right!’

After Kennedy Jr announced he was backing Trump, Hines released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter saying: ‘I deeply respect the decision Bobby made to run on the principle of unity.
‘Over the last year and a half, I have met some extraordinary people from all parties — Democrats, Republicans and independents.
‘It’s been my experience that the vast majority of all parties are truly good people who want the best for our country and for each other. It has been an eye-opening, transformative and endearing journey.’
