Adam Sandler’s Netflix special panned as unimpressed viewers ‘turn off in minutes’-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

Viewers have slated Adam Sandler over his ‘messy’ new Netflix special, claiming they turned the whole thing off after just a few minutes.

The Grown Ups actor returned to his comedy roots with a new program, titled Love You, which premiered on the streaming platform on August 27.

It served as a follow-up to the 57-year-old’s 2018 special, 100% Fresh, and saw him performing for delighted fans, dressed in his signature, casual style of a hoodie, a colorful T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.

However, despite flying straight into the Netflix Top 10 list, many weren’t thrilled by the quality of the 74-minute episode and flocked to social media to share their issues.

Organic-Hovercraft-3 revealed their thoughts in a lengthy message on the Netflix Reddit page, penning: ‘Let me start out by saying Ive been a big fan of the sandman for decades. With that being said, this special was f**king awful.

‘The audio was absolute dog s**t. Adam mumbling, everyone else just so loud, including the crowd. The sound engineer needs to be fired. All the scripted pieces that are supposed to be candid are tacky and take away from the special.

‘We all pay $25-30 a month for Netflix because it is supposed to be hi quality – both the audio and visuals. And here I am watching some special that looks, and sounds like, it was filmed on a Motorola Razr. Anyone else feel the sams? Or am I f**king crazy? [sic].’

Jluvdc26 agreed: ‘I only watched about 10 minutes. It was too hard to understand what he was saying. The format was just bad or something.’

So_She_Did penned: ‘I’m a huge fan of him too and thought the way he was doing it was clever, but I ended up stopping it after about 15 minutes for the reason. It was too hard to understand. I’m so glad it wasn’t just me.’

‘I love Adam but I think I laughed twice during the whole thing,’ Plutosbigbro complained. ‘It was a mess and very scattered throughout. I would not recommend.’

However, others rushed to Adam’s defense, insisting they found his special as ‘fantastic’ and hilarious as ever.

Ninjaluvr praised: ‘I enjoyed it and had fun. Definitely watchable.’

‘I disagree, I watched it last night and thought it was fantastic,’ Idontfeelsogood_313 said. ‘It was just good old fashioned jokes about talking dogs and grandmas kissing booth and clown cars you know? Nothing edgy or “woke” or “anti-woke”, nothing offensive, nothing political, just jokes.

‘It was a really welcome change from the usual over-polished, shock factor based stadium extravaganzas they’ve been putting out lately.’

As JustAGuyNamedRyan3 added: ‘Man, I loved it. Hit me just right. The sound and technical issues were all a creative choice, I’m nearly certain. The grittiness is the point.

‘Anyway, I laughed through the whole thing. Been a fan of Sandler since They’re All Gonna Laugh at You. Really well done.’

Adam has lit up the screen in a string of huge movies over the years, including 50 First Dates, Just Go With It, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison and Blended.

In recent months, he has also become a fashion icon to young fans who have only just discovered his laid-back style.

Unpacking his new-found status as a clothes horse, he admitted to People Magazine: ‘You know, this is an accidental thing.

‘But here I am wearing goofy clothes, and I don’t know. I don’t think about it.’

‘Whatever is in the closet, I grab it,’ he also admitted to Mystery Fashionist. ‘I think I got a bunch of the same socks. Underwear’s kind of similar, too. I grab it, I don’t think about it much.

‘Most people make fun of me in my family, but I keep moving.’

Noted.

Love You is available to stream on Netflix now.
