‘Doing Something Wrong’: Charles Barkley Calls Out Anthony Davis for Not Supporting LeBron James and Lakers Enough

In what was an exciting series, the Los Angeles Lakers lost their game to the Phoenix Suns in game 6. Devin Booker scored 47 points in a dominating performance for the Suns. Notably, Anthony Davis started the game against all odds but got injured and had to leave the floor. AD’s groin injury aggravated as the Los Angeles conceded defeat to the ever-improving Phoenix Suns. Soon after this matchup, Charles Barkley reflected on the game while talking about Davis’ training regimes.

Barkley spoke about how Davis was getting injured all the time soon after the Lakers bowed out from this season’s championship race.

Anthony Davis gets injured yet again

AD’s name on the roster while he was nursing his groin injury raised eyebrows. Barkley commented on how AD needs to step up for the Lakers in the future.

“He is a terrific kid, he is a hell of a player but there is no way he should have been out there. But I will tell you this, they gotta sit him down in the summer and say yo man, is something going on with your training. You should never be hurt early in your career… From 22 to 32 you are superman… For him to always be hurt, he is doing something wrong,” said Barkley.

The Lakers have to analyze their options this summer since Davis keeps getting injured all the time. They don’t look like a team that can outscore opponents. With LeBron and Davis being so injury-prone, the franchise has their work cut out now. Even though LeBron scored 29 points, no player contributed to the offensive side in the game.

What can the Lakers do this off-season?

Despite their early loss to the Suns, the Lakers will be the favorites to win the title next year, yet again. Significantly, the Portland Trail Blazers lost their series against the Denver Nuggets, and there are talks of Dame joining the Los Angeles-based franchise. If that is to happen, then there is no stopping the Lakers.

The prospect of Lillard, Davis, and Bron together will be exciting. The point guard can fill the hole in the Lakers team as he is a potent offensive threat on the floor. Even though the Lakers have one of the best defensive records in the league, their offensive side of the game needs improvement, and Lillard can solve that problem.

Anthony Davis will hope to get fit for the next season. A clear out of deadwood is key for the team’s revival. Kyle Kuzma once again proved to be a disappointment in this series. Freeing up cap space should be considered for the Lakers to be able to sign key players. This off-season will be important for the Lakers to reclaim their throne.
