It’s time to get down with the trumpets once more as British chart sensations Rizzle Kicks are finally releasing new music.

Jordan Stephens and Harley Sulé, both 32, have reunited after nine years away from recording with their new song Javelin.

They parted ways in 2015, having had a string of hits from records Roaring 20s, which came out in 2013 and debut album Stereo Typical in 2011.

The build-up sent fans wild as Harley posed with a (slightly baffling) empty sheet of paper while they counted down to the announcement on social media.

Finally, the new track is here and that familiar cheeky upbeat tone is still present but now in their 30s, it’s a much more mature sound.

Speaking about the new music, Rizzle Kicks said: ‘We wrote Javelin in a family home in a good place and open-hearted. It was the first time we worked with Swindle alongside Ant Whiting.

‘Ant was already fam, Swindle is now too. Javelin has essentially informed the direction of the album. “Spearhead” that is.

‘It’s a statement of intent. Guaranteed to lift spirits. That’s what we’re here to do. We feel as though that’s our lane. Most of the time.’

At the start of the video, Jordan jokes this is ‘not my idea of a nice day out’, referring to a meme started by Gary Barlow’s TikTok and letting everyone know they have no intention of being serious.

Rizzle Kicks became synonymous with summer in the 2010s, with tunes that just made people want to dance and sing.

Harley can be seen loading a boombox with a cassette tape which reads ‘Rizzle Kicks Weather’, a nod to that sunshine party feeling so closely associated with the duo.

Fans have gone wild for the new music with Zee on X declaring: ‘Real music is back.’

Many have compared the reunion to another rather big music return this week, with Rhia stating: ‘They’re my Oasis.’

‘1st biggest reunion of the week,’ wrote Cian as Daniel shared: ‘Best comeback this week 👏🏻.’

‘I feel like I’m 14 years old again,’ joked Jake Liddy while Becky simply added: ‘I’m so happy 🙌🏾🎶.’

Rizzle Kicks landed their number one hit on a collaboration with Olly Murs, titled Heart Skips a Beat and had numerous other chart hits, including Down With The Trumpets.

The Brighton-based hitmakers have sold over 1 million singles and over 600,000 albums in the UK and their return was hailed as the ‘saviour of music.’

They had been forced to take a break from music when touring and performing became too much, with Harley suffering from panic attacks.

Rizzle Kicks actually revealed the reunion on Jordan’s podcastThe Red Carpet Treatment, with Jordan sharing: ‘I think our music has aged very well and I think that we, this is my guess, we are reminiscent of a time in British history, 2012, which was pretty optimistic.

‘We had the Olympics, pre-Covid, pre-Brexit, pre-Trump, people were living their lives man.’

Rizzle Kicks’ new single Javelin is out now with an album set to be released next year.
