Betty A. Bridges, best known for starring in Scrubs, ER, Good Times and 2 Broke Girls, has died aged 83.

The actress died at the home of her son, Diff’rent Strokes star Todd Bridges, in Phoenix on Tuesday after being in hospice care.

A cause of death has not been shared.

Confirming the news of his mother’s death, Todd, 59, shared a tribute to her on Instagram.

Alongside a photo of Bridges smiling, he captioned the post: ‘1941 – 2024 Betty Bridges.’

His post was met with messages of support from friends and fans alike, with Lenny Kravitz commenting: ‘Rest in power Queen.’

Meanwhile Community star Yvette Nicole Brown, who also appeared in the recent Good Times animated reboot shared: ‘Oh Todd, I’m so sorry for your loss!’

The Wonder Years star Jason Hervey added: ‘Betty was always very nice to me. I’m sorry Todd. RIP.’

Todd, best known for playing the role of Willis Jackson on the beloved 80s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, then shared another post that featured a video montage of photos of his mother.

Throughout her acting career, Bridges also appeared in the 1970s’ Police Woman, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and Charlie’s Angels.

She also featured in like Quincy M. E, Diff’rent Strokes, Wonder Woman, Dallas, Beverly Hills, 90210, Ally McBeal and The Practice.

Her movie credits include A Night at the Roxbury, Rooster and The Concrete Jungle.

The actress then went on to carve out a career as a Hollywood manager and acting coach, co-founding an acting school called Kane Bridge Academy, with some of her students including Nia Long and Regina King.

Bridges’ husband James Bridges Sr. was a prominent agent, while her other son Jimmy is also an actor.

He has appeared on Good Times and Diff’rent Strokes like his mother and brother, as well as Shameless and Alias.
