US rapper Fatman Scoop, 53, suffered a serious ‘medical emergency’ during a concert in Hamden, Connecticut on Friday.
The Be Faithful hitmaker, real name Isaac Freeman, was performing at Hamden Town Centre Park when the incident occurred, as confirmed by the Hamden mayor Lauren Garrett.
Garrett added he was ‘transported by ambulance to the hospital’. The statement continued: ‘We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.’
Emerging footage on social media shows Freeman struggling to climb onto a platform before passing out behind a DJ booth as the music is stopped and fellow artists on stage continued to address the crowd.
The audience fell silent, although some screams could be heard, as CPR was administered in an attempt to revive him at the scene.
At 8:33pm authorities were sent to the scene and wheeled the rapper out from the venue on a stretcher. His condition remains unknown, although concertgoers were heard asking if he was okay after witnessing him collapse.
