Romeo Beckham has ‘ditched’ his Premier League football ambitions to follow in his mum’s footsteps, according to recent reports.

The Brentford FC youth player, 21, was looking to follow his dad David’s career path but is said to have had a change of heart and is now reportedly taking after mum Victoria.

After being offered a new contract by his club in June, which would have seen him stay on with their B-team, Romeo is said to have turned it down to pursue a new career.

He originally joined Brentford just last year after featuring in Arsenal’s youth set-up in 2014 and eventually joining his dad’s team Inter Miami over in America.

But now reports have claimed that he’s swapped the pitch for the runway now, having apparently signed with SAFE Management Paris to move into his mum’s line of work.

A source told The Sun: ‘Romeo has decided to hang up his football boots and devote his time to his fashion career.’

They continued: ‘He has loved his time at Brentford but needs to focus his attention on fashion, which is where his passion lies.’

And it apparently pays to be related to a mum like Victoria, with the 21-year-old already reportedly lined up to work alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.

The source said: ‘Romeo has recently signed with a top fashion agent in Paris and has his sights set on working with some massive brands.’

Over the years, Victoria has launched a number of fashion ranges and lines, working with huge brands and even winning designer brand of the year at the 2011 British Fashion Awards.

Despite the major career change, he’ll be stepping into a world he’s already familiar with, having already modeled for Burberry and been named Britain’s 26th best-dressed man as a child.

He’s also modeled for Yves Saint Laurent in the past and was a cover star for L’Uomo Vogue (Men’s Vogue in Italy) three years ago.

On top of that, he signed a deal said to be worth over £1million in 2021 that saw him become the face of sports brand Puma – who knows if he’ll blend sports and fashion again in the future.

Despite leaving Brentford’s B-team behdind, Romeo is planning on staying around to help with Brentford Penguins – a team set up by the club for children with Down’s syndrome.

The news about Romeo’s change of career has come just a couple of weeks after it was rumoured that he’d joined a celebrity dating app.

Romeo and his model girlfriend Mia Regan, who were childhood sweethearts and started dating at 16, split up earlier this year. They had a brief breakup in 2022 after three years together but got back together soon after.

But it seems that the pair are finally calling it quits for good, with Romeo reportedly signed up to the celebrity dating app Raya.

Metro.co.uk has approached Romeo’s reps for comment.
