These would be too good.

Oasis fans have been waiting 15 years for the bickering Gallagher brothers to get back together and it’s finally happened – which you will know, unless you’ve been living under a crater-worthy rock for the past two weeks.

But what about everyone else?

If you’re not celebrating under a Champagne Supernova at the shock reconciliation and return of Noel and Liam – or looking back in anger at Ticketmaster’s never-ending queue and inflated prices – then you might’ve been hankering for the reunion of your favourite 80s or 90s band instead.

In short, Oasis is pretty legendary, but what about the Spice Girls? Or Destiny’s Child? Here are the bands many people would have loved to see back over the indie rockers in 2024.

The Spice Girls

Oh how we miss Posh, Baby, Scary, Sporty and Ginger Spice – aka, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, and Geri Halliwell – and how they spiced up our lives from 1994 for six years of undisturbed pop joy.

Breaking through into mainstream with Wannabe in 1996, the Spice Girls went on to record some of the most beloved hits of the decade with Spice Up Your Life, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are and Mama.

The pop legends announced a hiatus in 2000 to focus on solo careers, and they reunited for The Return of the Spice Girls tour in 2007, before closing the London Olympics ceremony in 2012.

In 2019 fans were treated to a European tour – Spice World – in the UK and Ireland, but alas, Victoria (Posh Spice) was nowhere to be seen.

So it’s understandable millennial super-fans would be quaking in their Ugg boots for a rare chance to see all five bandmates in action once more.

It’s looking unlikely the Spice Girls will reunite any time soon though after some murmurings that it could be on the cards for Glastonbury 2025. Mel C declared in July that headlining the festival would be a ‘belter’ idea.

This came after the women reunited at Victoria’s big 50th birthday bash in April, singing together in footage that quickly went viral after it was shared by partygoers and fingers crossed around the country.

However, fans’ hopes were dashed after it was reported just weeks ago that Geri – aka Ginger – is not too happy with the behaviour of Mel Brown (Scary Spice), so much so that she’s scrapped the rumoured reunion plans.

This attempt to get the band back together even had Victoria Beckham tentatively attached for the first time since the 2012 Olympics.

The Smiths

Many indie rock lovers will be waiting with bated breath for the day The Smiths reunite, after their 1987 break up.

Little did fans know until recently that this could have been a real possibility in 2025. Days ago Morrissey claimed he accepted a ‘lucrative’ offer for a reunion this summer but bandmate Johnny Marr ignored it.

After Noel and Liam announced the end – hopefully – to their decades-long feud, The Smiths fans asked why can’t Marr and Morrissey do the same?

But on Thursday Morrissey, 65, posted a statement on his website saying: ‘In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as “The Smiths” throughout 2025. Morrissey said yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.”

The statement added: ‘Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November. Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.’

While Marr didn’t formally reply, he did respond to a fan on X – who asked, ‘If Oasis can do it, The Smiths can too (I’m delusional)’ – with a simple picture of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage grinning with a pint in hand.

While this may have seemed a cryptic response, this appeared to be a reference to the band’s lead singer Morrissey’s political beliefs.

In recent years the singer, real name Steven Patrick Morrissey, has said that he is a supporter of Nigel Farage and Brexit – things which some members of the band, including Johnny, do not agree with.

The group was one of the most beloved bands of the 80s, performing from 1982 until 1987. They released major hits including There Is A Light That Never Goes Out and How Soon Is Now?

Destiny’s Child

It’s almost been 10 years since Destiny’s Child – made up of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams – announced their split during the Destiny Fulfilled world tour, explaining that they wanted to pursue solo careers.

Save for a 2013 Super Bowl halftime performance and an appearance during Beyonce’s Coachella set in 2018, fans have been left absolutely gasping for a reunion.

The glorious trio are on good terms after going their separate ways in 2006, and they even shared the stage together earlier this year in a one-off private performance at the 50th birthday party celebrations of Kelly’s husband, Tim Weatherspoon.

While Beyonce continues to hip-sway in her Cowgirl renaissance Kelly is also making music and starring in Hollywood films, as the final Bootylicious hitmaker Michelle is using her platform to raise awareness about mental health via podcasts and books.

Michelle Williams, Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland are still on very friendly terms – so it’s not an impossibility they will reunite for a show or two in the near future like they did during Bey’s Coachella set (Picture: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Coachella)

Beyoncé’s dad, Mathew Knowles, sent fans into a spin last year when he shared his hopes of the gang getting back into the studio for one last album.

Following his comments, Kelly was questioned on whether she could envision an official reunion with her best pals.

‘You know, [Beyonce] is on tour, Michelle has projects that she’s into, I’m having projects that I’m into,’ she told E! News at the time.

‘If it happens, it happens you know. But everybody has their own lives right now. If it happens, it happens.’

Gulp.

Outkast

Hey Ya! pretty much sound-tracked the 00s, and how we miss OutKast’s catchy, upbeat bangers. Formed in Georgia in 1992, Big Boi (Antwan Patton) and André 3000 made up one of the biggest duos to hit the UK charts at the turn of the century. Ms Jackson was a stand-out moment in 2000, and Roses (really smell like oh-oh-oh!) too.

While no reunion is officially on the cards, the duo are on good terms so there is a real possibility this could happen some time in the future.

Right now Andre, 48, is hitting up the stage as a solo artist at the moment, but with something completely different in his instrumental woodwinds album New Blue Sun.

Meanwhile, Big Boi, 49 – real name Antwan Patton – took to the stage at Andre’s show in March which was a mini OutKast reunion of sorts, but fans are desperate for the real deal.

The pair haven’t officially performed under their famous moniker together since 2016, when they delivered a set in Atlanta.

In an interview with CBS Morning in December, Andre was asked whether Big Boi had discussed a reunion with him.

‘No. To be honest, no,’ he replied, but confirmed the pair are ‘still close’.

‘But I think because he knows who I am, and knows what gets me going, he knows what inspires me, he knows when I’m excited about something. You know what I mean?’ he added.

‘So I think in that sense, he’s never pushed that issue. But I’m sure, like… I want another OutKast album. Yeah, like in my mind – but see, that’s the thing. That’s the human side. I want[ed] an OutKast album a long time ago.’

He concluded: ‘I think hopefully with will and intent, something will happen.’

During an interview with The Guardian in 2021, Big Boi answered a fan’s question about the amount of music they haven’t shared with the world.

‘There is a lot of unreleased music around here, man,’ he said. But on whether it would be released, he said: ‘You would have to talk to the Lord Jesus. Only he knows.’

That’s definitely not a no…

Radiohead

Radiohead, Radiohead, Radiohead. Perhaps one of the biggest – and most tormented – bands of the 90s, it would cause absolute indie mayhem if they announced a reunion.

That could – tentatively – be a possibility, as in December Philip Selway said the Creep hitmakers are ‘coming back around to that point’ of reuniting.

2026 will mark 10 years since the band released their last album A Moon Shaped Pool – with members Philip, Thom Yorke, Ed O’Brein, and brothers Colin Greenwood and Johnny Greenwood – so surely this would be as good a time as any for another whirl.

But lead singer Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood are pretty busy with their spin-off group The Smile(Picture: Roberto Panucci – Corbis/Corbis via Getty Images)

However, in 2022 guitarist Ed said he’s not sure if they’ll make music together again, and with Thom and Johnny occupied with their Radiohead spin-off group The Smile, things aren’t looking totally positive for getting the old gang back together again.

Formed in 1985, the indie rockers broke into the mainstream with Creep – which is still a classic – and also found success with other hits including Paranoid Android, Karma Police, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, and Fake Plastic Trees – among many others – into the 1990s.
