Kerry Katona has said she can’t wait to get inked after buying her 23-year-old daughter a brand new tattoo gun for her birthday.

The media personality and former pop singer, 43, gave birth to Molly in 2001, back when she was married to former Westlife singer Brian McFadden.

Kerry, who is now engaged to Ryan Mahoney, has said she’s more than happy to let Molly try out her new tattooing skills on her – a willing guinea pig to celebrate her daughter’s special day.

It wouldn’t be Kerry’s first tattoo, with the former Atomic Kitten singer having already decorated her body with ink over the years, but she’s said it would be the most special.

In her column for New! magazine, she shared her excitement and revealed her emotions about Molly’s special day.

She wrote: ‘My Molly turned 23 over the weekend – I can’t believe how fast time is passing. Ryan and I spoiled her.’

She continued: ‘She’s been asking for a tattoo gun for a while so we got her one and I’m going to let her tattoo me. I think it will be so special to have a tattoo done by my daughter on me forever.’

Kerry then said that she’s looking forward to being tattooed by Molly – even if it’s just a ‘simple squiggle’ – because it will be a permanent reminder of their bond.

Kerry also has other children – Lilly, 21, who she had with Brian; Heidi, 17, and Max, 15, with her second husband Mark Croft; and DJ, 10, with her late third husband George Kay.

Despite having a special bond with all her children, Kerry has said she feels particularly close to Molly because she is her firstborn, saying: ‘It makes me particularly emotional. That’s something you can never take away.’

Molly currently lives over in Dublin where she attends drama school, and Kerry confessed to having not seen her daughter in almost a year as a result.

She said in July: ‘I haven’t seen Molly in almost a year! We talk on the phone every single day, but she just hasn’t been home to visit in a while.’

These past few days, Kerry has spent some quality time with Molly before going on holiday – she confessed to being emotional when they left for the airport, knowing Molly would be back in Ireland by the time they returned.

She said: ‘I spent time with her before coming away on holiday and when we left for the airport I balled my eyes out because I knew she would be back at drama school in Dublin by the time we got home.’

Two months ago, Kerry postponed her Las Vegas wedding to Ryan after Molly begged her mum not to get married without her children present.

In search of sun, the engaged couple went on holiday instead: ‘That put those plans on the back burner, so I think we’re going to Mexico now. I just want somewhere really relaxing, especially after our stressful house move.’
