While most are excited about Oasis’ long-awaited return, the Irish indie rock band Fontaines D.C. isn’t exactly thrilled.

Two of the band’s members, Carlos O’Connell and Conor Deegan III, shared their opinion on the reunion during an interview with Studio Brussel.

They said that the reunion is not only boring but also antithetical to the direction they think music should be taking.

‘I couldn’t really give a s***, to be honest,’ O’Connell said in response to being asked if he was excited about the Gallagher reunion when the interviewer asked him if he was excited about Liam and Noel Gallagher getting back together.

Deegan added: ‘I’m not excited about it either, to be honest. I feel like we get caught in the last era – like the ’10s – and into such a nostalgic thing that we’re forgetting to make new things.

‘I feel like what we were wanting to do with this record [‘Romance’] anyway was to look into the future and make new things… So for Oasis to reform at this moment for us is really annoying.’

Their comments triggered a predictably fiery response from Liam Gallagher.

Responding on X to a fan who asked if Oasis would ever consider Fontaines D.C. as an opening act, Liam wrote: ‘Fuck them little spunkbubbles I’ve seen better dressed ROADIES.’

He also said in a separate tweet: ‘They look like a shit EMF,’ as well as responding to another user who tagged him in a clip of the interview. ‘State of em,’ he wrote.

The band’s frontman, Grian Chatten, seems a little more enthused about the news of the reunion, commenting on a post NME made about the comments with: ‘I love Oasis. This is not my opinion.’

While no member of Fontaines D.C. have responded directly to Liam’s incredibly specific jabs, the quickly rising band is likely unconcerned with his opinion given their recent success.

They recently released their latest album, Romance, to critical and commercial success and are quickly rising in popularity globally, soon embarking on a world tour.

The news of their spat with Oasis comes as some of the iconic band’s fans received a precious ballot code in their inbox today for tomorrow’s added Wembley dates sale – and it was revealed there will be no risk of dynamic pricing this time.

It was confirmed to Metro.co.uk that there is a new ticket price cap for the extra London dates – on September 27 and 28, 2025 – meaning dynamic pricing isn’t going to be an issue in the sale for the new dates.

It is thought this will be the last chance for fans to get a ticket for the historic come back dates.

While it’s clear that Fontaines, D.C. is unlikely to be picked as openers for the reunion dates, it remains to be seen who will join Oasis on their reunion tour.
