Daytime TV queen Lorraine Kelly was labelled ‘filthy’ by her daughter Rosie Smith as they made their Celebrity Gogglebox debut.

The mother and daughter decided to join the reality TV programme upon being asked because they ‘both love the show so much’ according to Lorraine, who revealed their casting on her morning show while interviewing her now-castmate, DJ Nick Grimshaw.

Lorraine and Rosie settled down for their viewing in comfy clothes with new puppy Ruby, marking the occasion by opening a bottle of bubbly to share together.

Talk turned to modern fashion, with 26-year-old Rosie lamenting: ‘What is going on with these tight trousers and tight tops on boys? Why do they do it?’

Mum Lorraine suggested it might be ‘because they work out’, with Rosie adding: ‘… And they want to be like, “Look at me”… Even his trousers, you can see his ankle – I don’t understand that.’

Her scandalised mother, laughing, said: ‘His ankle? I thought you were going to say something else!’

Then it was Rosie’s turn to smile and tut her mum, saying: ‘You’re filthy mother!’

‘I am not!’, protested Lorraine – but you know how the famous phrase goes.

The ITV presenter also made the surprising revelation of having had a ‘huge crush on Mr Spock from Star Trek’ as they tuned into ITV2 show Secret Crush, which Rosie proclaimed ‘weird’, although Lorraine begged to differ.

Lorraine and Rosie joined returning faves, including father-son double act Martin and Roman Kemp and Shaun Ryder and Bez from the Happy Mondays, as well as new duos of Clare Balding and her wife Alice Arnold, and BBC Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo and Spice Girl Melanie C, who are both joined by their brothers.

Ex top-flight footballers turned pundits Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher also made their Celebrity Gogglebox debut, alongside Sir Tom Jones, who was partnered with his fellow Voice UK coach Anne-Marie.

Elsewhere, the stars were shocked to see Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick forced to operate on his own dog, which saw Clare Balding in tears and Sir Tom insisting: ‘You can’t have a dog dying on the television.’
