Celebrity Race Across The World has unveiled the winning couple after a trip of a lifetime through South America.

Scott Mills and husband Sam Vaughan were crowned champions after reaching the final checkpoint in Frutillar in Southern Chile with just moments to spare in tonight’s nail-biting episode of the BBC show.

They beat runners-up actor Kola Bokinni and cousin Mary Ellen and Jeff Brazier and son Freddy, who were in third place. Heart radio host Kelly Brook and husband Jeremy Parisi finished last.

Celebrity Race Across The World has been another barnstorming series of the travel show, which has been a huge hit for the BBC.

It’s been packed with emotional moments -including Freddy revealing he couldn’t remember being held by his mum Jade Goody, leaving viewers ‘heartbroken.’

Big Brother legend Goody and TV personality Jeff had two sons, Freddy, 19, and Strictly star Bobby, 21, before she died from cervical cancer aged 27 in 2009.

Freddy said: ‘I don’t really like showing my emotions. I don’t even speak to my dad much about my mum either. I just avoid it. I prefer to bottle it up.

‘I don’t want to feel like I’m a burden to them. A lot of my memories that I have of my mum have come from watching a documentary, YouTube clips, newspapers, they are not my memories.’

While holding back tears, he continued: ‘I don’t really remember being held by my mum. If I had more memories of her, it would have made it a whole lot harder for me.

‘But I think I would rather that than not really remember the things that I had done with my mum. It’s just life really and I’ve kind of accepted that.’

Freddy was also praised by viewers for opening up about his ADHD diagnosis publicly for the first time, which he said made him ‘inadequate, inferior and not enough.’

His father Jeff said he knew Freddy would ‘go on to do something amazing in his lifetime’.

Elsewhere in Celebrity Race Across The World, viewers were left reaching for the sick bucket when Scott and Sam were subjected to a worse-for-wear coach toilet.

Scott previously recalled the gruesome bog to Metro.co.uk, revealing: ‘It was a heatwave and we were on a bus and the air con didn’t stretch as far as the toilet, so as soon as you went into it it was 50C.

‘Someone had just had a poo in there and I was just spewing, spewing, spewing, spewing. And I actually thought to myself, “This could be the end.”

‘I couldn’t stop being sick. All I could smell was hot poo. I was like this is the grimmest thing I’ve ever done.’

Kola also had a ‘terrifying’ experience clinging on for dear life on budget transport zipping through rural Brazil.

He told Metro.o.uk: ‘It was torrential monsoon rain and we were in a car and this guy was pelting it. I stayed awake because I was like, “I ain’t happy with this. I feel like we might actually crash here.”

Despite their best efforts, Kelly and Jeremy came in last place (Picture: Studio Lambert)

‘He was going a hundred and something and this car was not the safest car. It was just an average car. That was quite a scary moment.

‘It was also like two or three in the morning so for me to stay awake I must have been terrified.’

Kelly, meanwhile, tried to make the most of the food and culture while her husband Jeremy, due to his competitive nature, ‘would go on hunger strike to not spend money.’

The radio presenter however couldn’t resist tasting the local cuisine when Brazilian bus drivers would stop frequently for barbeque.

‘You cannot not say no to the rotisserie chicken,’ she laughed to Metro.co.uk.

‘But Jeremy did. He would sit there with an espresso, just glaring at me, and I’d have a plate of beans and rice, the most amazing steak you’ve ever seen, and a jug of red wine. I loved it.’

Last year, Good Morning Britain weather presenter Alex Beresford and his dad Noel were crowned the winners of the first-ever series of Celebrity Race Across the World.

Celebrity Race Across The World is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
