Skyrim Grandma has finally got enough of Skyrim (YouTube)

After nine years, Skyrim Grandma says she’s had enough and will stop posting gaming content, but she won’t stop uploading YouTube videos altogether.

While content creation and gaming are often seen as hobbies for the younger generations, every now and then someone reminds us that video games are loved by all age groups.

One 72-year-old has managed to amass over 80,000 subscribers on YouTube, where he plays Minecraft, while another 72-year-old revealed how he climbed to the highest rank in Counter-Strike 2 earlier this year.

One of the most popular senior gamers is 88-year-old Shirley Curry, also known as Skyrim Grandma on social media, but now she’s decided to stop posting videos of herself gaming.

‘It doesn’t make me too happy, but it’s something that I feel now that I have to do,’ Curry said in her latest video on YouTube, titled ‘No more gaming videos.’

‘I don’t think you’re going to like it either, but I can’t help it. I’m old and I’m tired, and I don’t feel like doing much anymore.’

The video has been seen 240,000 times in just two days, which isn’t surprising considering her channel has 1.3 million subscribers.

‘It seems like I spend most of my time sitting in here at this computer and lately, probably for the last month, I walk in here and look at my computer and think, ‘I’ve got to make a video today.’ And then I just shake my head at myself and say, ‘I don’t want to. I have no desire to,’ and I turn around and I walk back out.

‘It isn’t fun anymore. I’m tired of it. I’m bored to death with it. So, I’m making the decision now, totally, finally, I’m not going to be making any more game videos,’ she said.

Curry added that she won’t leave YouTube for good, as she’ll still post the occasional vlog about her life. She also said she’ll spend the newly available time in her schedule to finally make the quilt she’s long wanted to.

In her videos, which go back nine years, Curry would often play through various The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim saves, with different characters, narrating her adventures as she went along.

Skyrim is now almost 13 years old but Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is their ‘focus’ going forward, and earlier this year the developer revealed they already have a playable early build.

There is no release date yet, but maybe The Elder Scrolls 6 can tempt Skyrim Grandma to make a comeback when it finally comes out.
