Sarah Michelle Gellar offered up a decisive, three-word answer over whether she will be returning for the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel.

The horror movie was released in 1997 and followed a group of teenagers who seemingly killed a man and covered it up – before they found themselves stalked by a hook-wielding psycho on the year anniversary of the attack.

The 47-year-old starred as beauty queen Helen Shivers alongside husband Freddie Prinze Jr, Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Love Hewitt – with Freddie and Jennifer also starring in the 1998 follow-up, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

Last month, it was revealed that her partner, 48, had signed up to reprise his role in the upcoming slasher film, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, nearly 30 years after the original was released.

While Jennifer is still said to be in negotiations to return to the fold as Julie James, her co-star confirmed that she will not be following suit.

In a new chat with People Magazine, Sarah reflected on her efforts in the scare fest, before her character met a shocking ending.

‘I am dead,’ she said when asked about a potential comeback, but also shared that she will actually have an ‘unofficial’ job on set.

‘My best friend is directing it, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is I am continuity,’ she continued.

‘So I’m always the one telling her, “Well, that would happen, or that wouldn’t happen with those characters,” so I do have kind of an unofficial job title.’

‘Jen’s put together such an amazing cast, and I’m so happy and excited for all of them,’ she added of the sequel. ‘I will be there with moral support behind the camera.’

Although Sarah isn’t returning and Jennifer has not yet confirmed whether she will be facing off against the creepy killer once again, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon and Tyriq Withers make up the rest of the cast so far.

Details on the plot and release date have not been made public, but Brandy Norwood – who starred as Karla Wilson in the 1998 outing – was also linked to the flick.

‘I don’t know how she would come back,’ she recently told Entertainment Tonight.

‘I haven’t thought about that yet but I know that she should come back. She should definitely come back.

‘We’ll see what happens.’

That’s not a no…
