Nikita Mazepin Calls Out Lewis Hamilton for Breaking the Gentlemen’s Code in Baku

Haas driver Nikita Mazepin has asked his critics to be critical of other drivers on the grid. The chaotic Q1 had left many drivers, including Mazepin, frustrated. It understandably left the Russian fuming when Lewis Hamilton passed him on his out lap.

Mazepin has had a rough start to his F1 career and has garnered news for every wrong reason. He has now implored his critics to make judgments on the conduct of other drivers after Baku qualifying. The Hass driver targeted Lewis Hamilton for not following the gentlemen’s agreement.

Mazepin was asked by GPFans Global, if the situation after the red flag restarts and the out laps was confusing for the drivers, “ No, the situation is very clear for me.” said Mazepin.

Mazepin continued by questioning the conduct of the gentlemen’s agreement and calling out several drivers. ” But in this case, I would like to address all those people who have criticized me and ask to criticize those people as well because if rules are rules, then they should be the same for all drivers.

I watched the best in the sport do it like Lewis, like Checo [Perez], and I didn’t see much discussion going on there. No hard feelings but let’s choose a route we would like to go down in F1.”

Several other drivers in Bahrain called Mazepin out for not respecting the gentlemen’s agreement during qualifying on his debut.

Did Haas miss out on potential Q2?

Haas has been around a second off the other teams in Baku. But the start of the Q1 session presented Haas with an unlikely chance to get into Q2. When the session was in its initial phases, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll crashed into the wall at turn 15. This brought out the first red flag.

The same happened with Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi as he too crashed at the same place. This presented the Haas drivers to aim for Q2 but they were still a second off.

Asked if he felt Q2 was achievable, he replied: “Looking at the final times, no, but in the session, I thought so.” said Mazepin.
