AEW WrestleDream 2024 is upon us and fans know they could be bidding a fond farewell to a WWE and all round wrestling icon.

In a matter of hours, All Elite Wrestling – which is run by Fulham and Jacksonville Jaguars head honcho Tony Khan – may be giving everyone one last chance to see Bryan Danielson as an active performer.

The current AEW World Champion, known as Daniel Bryan during his time with WWE, is putting his gold on the line against former Blackpool Combat Club pal Jon Moxley.

As well as the title, the American Dragon is risking his career after vowing to retire once he loses the prize he won at Wembley Stadium in August.

Tonight’s event – which, like others, is in honour of late New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) founder Antonio Inoki – boasts five more championship clashes on the main card.

Here’s everything you need to know.

When is AEW WrestleDream 2024?

AEW WrestleDream airs Saturday, October 12 with all the action kicking off on the main card at 1am for fans in the UK.

Is Bryan Danielson actually retiring?

We said it before Wembley Stadium, but this really could be the final time Bryan Danielson wrestles.

The decorated former world champion is rightly put on a pedestal as one of the best wrestlers of all time, but he has repeatedly made it clear his AEW contact – which expired over the summer – will be the last deal he signs as an active wrestler.

A big reason for that is his family, as he looks to be there for his kids as they grow up, while he will also have to undergo neck surgery sooner rather than later.

His WWE comeback in 2018 – two years after retiring due to what appeared to be a career ending injury – and subsequent AEW run starting in 2021 has been a bonus for Danielson and his fans.

Reflecting on his recent October 2 match with Kazuchika Okada, he told Yahoo Sports’ Uncrowned: ‘Midway through the match, I started losing strength in my legs. There’s a point later in the match where I’m trying to kick him and I can’t turn over my kicks.

‘That’s something that I have the body mechanics to do because I have been doing it for so long, but here I am and I can’t turn my hip over for this kick. When I got to the back, I went to the trainer right away and they worked on me for like 30 minutes. They said it was stemming from the neck stuff.’
