BBC star Rebecca Mason is closing a big chapter of her life after over a decade.
The Morning Live regular has made the ‘tough decision’ to walk away from her police officer job to focus on other aspects of her career.
Taking to Instagram, she explained that she’d like to head in a ‘new direction’, but will always be grateful for the 14 years of experience.
‘After 14 years as a Police Officer and 10 of those serving as a Detective, I’ve made the tough decision to step away from the badge and let my career take a new direction,’ she began in the caption.
‘Being a police officer has been one of the most rewarding and meaningful experiences of my life—full of challenges, triumphs, and unforgettable memories. But life is too short not to follow your gut and your heart, and right now, I know it’s time for a change and a much-needed break. To my incredible colleagues and everyone who supported me—thank you for everything.
‘Here’s to new beginnings and following the path that feels right.

‘Who knows…maybe one day DC Mason will be back,’ she concluded.
Alongside the touching words, Rebecca, 35, shared a selection of images from her time in the force. This included pictures of her proudly wearing the uniform and a certificate she received after becoming runner-up in the Excellence in Performance category at the British Association for Women in Policing.
She also quickly updated her social media bio to reflect her new circumstances – it now reads: ‘Former Detective.’

Rebecca has plenty to keep her occupied as she’s been steadily building a media presence since 2017.
In addition to her former day job in the specialist Economic Crime unit, where she investigated complex financial crime and romance fraud, she regularly appeared on TV.
She initially began featuring on Hunted and its celebrity spin-off, using her detective skills to track people down as they tried to escape capture.
Rebecca has also been also been a go-to crime expert on Morning Live, For Love or Money, Moment Of Proof, and Crime Squad Special Ops.

Away from her work, Rebecca has found love with presenter Rav Wilding, 46, who is also a former police officer and detective for the British Transport Police. The pair both featured in Ill Gotten Gains in 2020, as this is likely when they met.

They began to publicly post about each other on social media in the summer of this year, including a trip to Royal Ascot. Rav described himself as ‘feeling lucky’ alongside a picture of them in their finest attire.
After six years of marriage, Rav split from his wife, TV producer Jill Morgan in 2023. The couple share a daughter Poppy, who was born in 2020.
The pair are thought to have started dating in 2012, a year after Rav ended his relationship with Big Brother star Chantelle Houghton.
