WWE SummerSlam 2021 Timings to Suffer Due to Manny Pacquiao Fight

WWE Universe is excited for SummerSlam 2021 as it will be the first WWE PPV at full capacity since Extreme Rules 2020. Not just that, but WWE is also pulling out all the stops to make sure SummerSlam really lives up to its nickname this year as the ‘Biggest Party of the Summer.’

However, while one would guess WWE having a stacked card and a long PPV in store, that is not the case. In fact, WWE is planning to run SummerSlam 2021 for only three hours. The same duration as an episode of Monday Night Raw. But why?

WWE SummerSlam 2021 will not be a long PPV

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has been asked to finish SummerSlam early to allow fans to reach the Manny Pacquiao-Errol Spence Jr. fight.

For those unaware, SummerSlam is head-to-head with the Boxing PPV. But, the main event between Pacquiao and Spence will not start until after midnight. This would allow fans to easily make it to MGM Grand Arena for the fight from the Allegiant Stadium. It’s a short 2-mile drive.

However, these requests mean WWE will only run the PPV for three hours. The official starting time is listed as 8 PM Eastern. Although WWE usually starts PPVs at 7 PM Eastern with a pre-show.

Even if SummerSlam runs for four hours including the pre-show, it wouldn’t be much of an issue. Why? Well, if the card and matches are strong. If WWE decides to put throwaway feuds and matches together then it wouldn’t work. However, the rumored John Cena vs Roman Reigns would be an exception considering the number of tickets it would sell.

It is believed over 70,000 members of the WWE Universe will be present at SummerSlam. And if is going to be that huge of a crowd, then the PPV has to be top-notch. And we’re sure WWE will try to pull out all the stops, just like they did to fix the venue amid the craze for the Pacquiao-Spence fight.
