On Sunday night, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! returns to ITV, with a host of new famous faces eagerly waiting to get into the jungle camp.

The long-running ITV series, which began all the way back in 2002, starts again at 9pm, with a bumper first episode introducing the new celebrities for 2024.

Some of the names among the line-up this year are Coleen Rooney, former Strictly professional Oti Mabuse, and Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall.

Ant and Dec will also be introducing Loose Women’s Jane Moore, Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough, N-Dubz singer Tulisa, and TV presenter Melvin Odoom.

Boxing legend Barry McGuigan and YouTube star GK Barry are also bidding to be crowned as King or Queen of the Jungle, but there’s one name in particular that’s being tipped for the title.

Danny Jones – singer and songwriter in 00s chart-topping band McFly – could be set to follow in the footsteps of one of his bandmates Dougie Poynter.

At least that’s according to former Pointless star Richard Osman, who is convinced that Danny will become the second McFly member to be crowned as the jungle’s king.

On a recent episode of The Rest is Entertainment with co-host Marina Hyde, Richard laid out the ‘proof’ that Danny will reign supreme before Christmas.

‘There is a behemoth which has strode across British popular culture for nearly 20 years now and every single thing that anyone involved with this project does is an enormous, huge, wonderful, life-affirming hit.

‘Danny Jones was on the Masked Singer, which he won. Dougie Poynter went on I’m A Celeb, which he won. Harry Judd went on Strictly Come Dancing, which he won.

‘Now, Tom Fletcher went on Strictly and didn’t win, so that’s a rare misstep for the McFly boys. But he has written 10 UK number one singles – and even though he didn’t win Strictly, his wife Giovanna Fletcher won I’m A Celebrity.’

Richard continued: ‘There is nothing the McFly boys cannot do. Every single time they turn their hand to anything, they absolutely nail it. Danny Jones, to me, feels like he’s going to be the champion of this show.’

And it seems bookmakers agree, with Coral making Danny the current early 4/1 favourite to win the competition, ahead of Coleen Rooney and Alan Halsall (both 5/1).

If he does win, that will mean – as Richard put it – Tom will be the only member of McFly to not win one of the major celebrity reality competitions.

Danny has been the lead singer in McFly since 2003, with the group achieving a massive seven UK number ones and another 12 top 10 hits on top of that.

Their debut album, Room on the 3rd Floor, topped the album charts in 2004 and stayed inside the top 100 for over a year, only leaving the charts in 2005.

Watch I’m a Celebrity on ITV or ITVX, on Sunday at 9pm.
