Bake Off star Dame Prue Leith censored after making naughty King Charles comment-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro

From baps to soggy bottoms, the Great British Bake Off isn’t afraid of getting a bit cheeky.

Dame Prue Leith took things to another level this week though as she dropped a very rude comment on morning television during an innocent chat about King Charles.

The 84-year-old judge and baking guru is in the US promoting the new series of the show, and she dropped a clanger which had to be censored.

On Thursday’s Live With Kelly and Mark, Dame Prue remembered messing up a cup of tea for the late Queen Elizabeth.

Kelly Ripa then asked her how King Charles takes his tea, but Dame Prue wasn’t sure if she could get away with giving her honest answer.

‘Um, I should think he probably likes it, um, what my husband would call,’ she started, before stuttering and reconsidering.

She teased: ‘Perhaps I can’t say this on morning television.’

Kelly told her to ‘say whatever you want’, so Dame Prue just went for it, and seemingly described the king’s preference as ‘hippie s**t’.

A pink oval covered her lips and a beep covered up the offending word, but it appeared clear what was being censored.

‘Love that,’ Kelly said while the audience burst out laughing, and her co-star Mark Consuelos added: ‘I love it!’

Kelly hailed the Bake Off judge ‘an American treasure’, while she was quick to clarify her assessment of King Charles’ brew choice.

‘Let me just explain. I really don’t know how what used to be Prince Charles, now King Charles, likes his tea,’ she said. ‘But he’s very green, and very concerned about the environment, so perhaps he’d like chamomile tea or one of those hippie teas!’

While ‘s**t’ isn’t a word you expect (even censored) on morning telly, it paled in comparison to a recent episode of Bake Off which may have been the rudest in the show’s history.

During pudding week’s technical challenge, Dame Prue tasked the bakers with recreating her spotted dick and custard – stop laughing!

At one point, a giggling Alison left everyone in hysterics as she told the contestants: ‘You have two and a half hours in order to get your dick ready.’

‘I’ve never seen a spotted dick, I’ve never tried it,’ baker Dylan said, as he read the recipe, while Christiaan commented: ‘My boyfriend told me that spotted dick is very nice.’

But the jokes didn’t stop there, as Gill said, while tying up the suet with string: ’I need a finger, that’s what I have a husband for, it’s his only use.’

‘Innuendo bingo,’ viewer @caterinajones wrote on X during the episode, while @stef_a88 said: ‘Absolute filth on #gbbo this week. Dreary me.’

‘The double entendres on #GBBO are more like single entendres now. Gill: “I need a finger. That’s what I have a husband for.” Pure filth,’ @jonhopswan added.

And @ceejAfterHours wrote: ‘I can’t wait for Americans’ reactions to the #GBBO technical challenge when it airs stateside…’
