The New York Times, Guardian, Bloomberg and even HMRC websites have also been struck by outages.

Independent outage tracker DownDetector says that tens of thousands of people worldwide have reported issues with various web pages.

It’s unclear what’s causing the outage, though it’s suspected that the fault lies with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

AWS is a cloud computing platform that powers many of the world’s most popular websites, including Amazon.

The Sun has reached out to Amazon for comment.
