Floyd Mayweather Feels ‘Sad’ Over Manny Pacquiao’s Current State: “He Has to Fight”

Floyd Mayweather ranks among the greatest boxers of the modern era. With his prolific in-ring prowess, Mayweather attracted every boxing lover’s eye in no time.

With that, he even bagged some exuberant paychecks for his fights, and even today he continues the same by entering exhibition fights. However, Mayweather feels that the same cannot be said other fighters, especially Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking to Seconds Out recently, he said, “Pacquiao, at his age, which is said, that he has to fight. You know, I’m financially set and I want to let everybody know this.

“You can hear so many different stories of Floyd had to do this, no. I’m well off. Every property that I have is paid for, my jet is paid for, all my cars are paid for.

“I own billion-dollar buildings. I own so much property and I’m steady, investing in different things.”

Mayweather and Pacquiao fought each other back in 2015. A fight between these two is still regarded among the biggest boxing encounters and predominantly the richest boxing fight of all time. This is because both the fighters banked an extensive amount of money in this fight.

But after that bout, ‘Pretty Boy’ only fought twice and hung his gloves up for good. With that, in his above interview, Mayweather asserted that he takes up exhibition fights today because he wants to do it, and not because he has to do it. Whereas, he felt ‘Pacman’ still has to fight regardless of anything.

That said, ‘Pacman’ should unquestionably give a thought to retirement. Because he’s achieved more than anyone could have ever imagined, and is certainly a legend of the game.

Also, with his activities both inside and outside the ring, Pacquiao has definitely inspired a generation of budding boxers. And it’ll be interesting to see if he really signs off sometime soon.
