The fourth contestant has been voted out of the I’m a Celeb camp, leaving behind a tight group of campmates.

Melvin Odoom was the fourth celebrity to be given the boot, after Tulisa exited the jungle last episode.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ, 44, seemed thrilled to depart the camp, shouting ‘Yes!’ as his name was called.

The vote was between Melvin Odoom and Maura Higgins, leaving GK Barry, Danny Jones, Coleen Rooney, Reverend Richard Coles, Alan Halsall, Barry McGuigan, and Oti Mabuse on the show.

In his exit interview, Melvin praised Oti Mabuse for being a close friend in the jungle.

‘She reminds me of my sister who I’m really close to,’ he said. ‘She’s super funny and super positive at all times. She’s a great person.’

‘It was difficult,’ he continued, discussing his time on the show. ‘There was a lot of rain. I did struggle on certain days. My sister saying I adapted to it… We’re doing our little chores. Yeah it’s just weird.’

He went on to say: ‘I’ve got a caring nature. When we were cooking, we used to serve everyone else before myself. I wanted to make sure camp was OK before I was.’

There were mixed feelings from fans about Melvin’s elimination, with many taking to X to share their thoughts.

@ThomassMattie wrote: ‘Not sure I expected Melvin to go tonight…’

@SammyBizzzle posted: ‘I thought Melvin would be top three #ImACeleb’

@sheltonlockfc was shocked by the result, writing: ‘How has Melvin been voted out????’

@LexieRoo_x was also disappointed, posting: ‘To be honest this season everyone is so wonderful but Melvin was my winner, love his vibe #ImACeleb’

But others thought Melvin was the right choice to go, with @floralentrii posting: ‘Sorry but Melvin was the best choice to go this episode.’

@itssarahridgway agreed: ‘Loved, loved, loved Melvin, hopefully see more of him on the TV.’

Melvin previously made headlines when the celebs began sharing personal stories earlier in the season, with Danny Jones’s mental health confessions leaving viewers in tears, as well as Barry McGuigan’s heartbreaking memories of his daughter before her death.

Melvin, however, opened up about his crush on TV personality Carol Vorderman.

After receiving a pillow that depicted Carol, Melvin later spoke in the Bush Telegraph, saying: ‘She could be watching this right now and be thinking, “I need myself a jungle man”.’

Carol eventually responded, taking to her Instagram page and writing: ‘Well hello @melvinodoom, or shall I say Melvin Vorderman or Jungle Man which sounds very much like Vorder Man? 👋🏻😍😂’

She also shared some very flirty voice notes, telling him: ‘Oh, Melvin! I’m blushing redder than the leatherette dress I’m wearing on your pillowcase. But, I’ll be rooting for you all the way through, and see you on the other side… in the two consonants DM.’

In a separate voice memo, she cheekily said: ‘Melvin, or should I say Jungle Man? Melvin Jungle Man, Melvin Vorderman… sounds the same to me.

‘Right, question: have you been spying on me? Because only last night, I had a little Thai food.

‘In fact, my menu was Pad Thai (quite a lot of it), with a little chicken satay on the side, and it was delicious, Jungle Man.

‘Anyway, keep doing what you’re doing; you’re doing a brilliant job.’

Hopefully, now that Melvin has left the show, he can meet Carol in person and make his dreams come true.
