Scrubs fans everywhere are rejoicing as it’s been all but confirmed that a reboot of the series is currently in development.
The beloved 00s medical sitcom, which started in 2001, followed the lives of the employees of the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital.
Noted for its slapstick humour and surreal jokes, Scrubs was a ratings winner, pulling in a massive 15million viewers at its peak.
It starred Zach Braff, Brendan Fraser, Sarah Chalke, and Dave Franco, and featured numerous celebrity guest appearances throughout its run.
In the years after its ratings peak, Scrubs maintained a massive cult status and fans have been eager for, and curious about, a revival for many years.
And it seems their prayers have been answered, with Variety learning that show creator Bill Lawrence is back writing for the Sacred Heart comedy.

The series was originally produced by the American TV network NBC, before moving to ABC for its final two seasons in 2009 and 2010.
ABC was recently absorbed into 20th Century TV, which itself is owned by Disney – Lawrence is said to be working on the new series for 20th Century.
However, while Lawrence is working on putting the new series together, sources have said that he is unlikely to be showrunner should the series go into full production.
No cast members are currently attached and the series is still yet to be picked up, but development is very much under way and plans are in the pipeline.

Ever since Scrubs broadcast its final episode more than 10 years ago, fans have wondered whether it might one day make a return.
And comments from Donald Faison, who played Dr. Chris Turk on the show, gave fans encouragement in 2022.
‘I think we all want it,’ he said during a panel at the recent ATX TV Festival. ‘We all would love to work together again.’
However, Faison said that there might be a few hurdles to overcome before the cast can all get back together to work on any new episodes.
‘It’s just that it’s really hard,’ Faison qualified (via Variety). ‘It can’t be a full season of a show – it would have to be a movie or something like that, where you could only give a couple of months to it. Everyone is doing things.’
While also being a ratings hit, Scrubs was also critically acclaimed throughout its run, with several episodes being ranked among the best sitcom episodes of all time.

In particular, the 14th episode of season three, titled My First Screw Up, which featured Brendan Fraser’s last ever appearance on the series, is remembered on many lists of best ever tv episodes.
The episode is noted for a heartbreaking twist involving Fraser’s character Ben, Braff’s character JD, and John C. McGinley’s Dr. Cox.
However, despite being a huge hit for most of its run, fans and critics were considerably less enthusiastic about its ninth and final season.
Several main characters were changed for the last batch of episodes, which are rated at least (on average) two points lower than earlier seasons on IMDb.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the series average rating is above 90% for the first eight seasons, but comes down to just 53% for the ninth season.
