Filming for the upcoming sequel of an iconic 90s horror movie caused a stir in Sydney, after signs were put up warning people about ‘dead bodies’.

The follow-up to I Know What You Did Last Summer has been shooting in Australia in recent weeks, with Freddie Prinze Jr reprising his role as Ray Bronson, alongside newcomers Madelyn Cline and Chase Sui Wonders.

While we’re still waiting for any inkling of whether Jennifer Love Hewitt will return as Julie James, film bosses were forced to issue a warning to those Down Under about the ongoing production, which has made us very excited for the slasher.

A snap of the notice, shared with Metro, reads: ‘Please be aware that sensitive scenes are being filmed. You may see (fake) deceased bodies.

‘If you would like an alternate route around the production please ask for assistance.’

For locals and tourists who felt ‘sensitive’ over issues, they were encouraged to reach out to members of the production team, or to call Lifeline.

‘This area is being used for filming a motion picture tentatively entitled I Know What You Did Last Summer,’ the message – placed at a beach and ferry station – continued.

‘If you enter this area, it is possible you will appear recognizably in the motion picture.

‘Therefore, it is understood and agreed that all persons entering this area thereby grant permission to PR Productions Pty Ltd to photograph, record and video them and use their likenesses in connection with the exhibition and advertising of this motion picture throughout the world.

‘If you object in any way to the foregoing, please stay out of the area. We apologize for any inconvenience. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.’

I Know What You Did Last Summer was released in 1997, starring Jennifer, Freddie, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe.

It focused on a group of teenagers in a small town accidentally killing a man and covering it up – before being hunted by a hook-wielding serial killer on the anniversary of the attack.

Julie and Ray managed to survive the first movie and were joined in the 1998 sequel by Karla (Brady), Tyrell (Mekhi Phifer), Will (Matthew Settle) and Titus (Jack Black) as they fought off the creepy figure.

Freddie previously confirmed his return to the fold while Jennifer is said to still be in negotiations – Sarah also teased she’ll be spending time on set, but not as Helen Shivers.

Last week, Sony Pictures had us well and truly hooked when they released a first look at the sequel, which will be in cinemas next summer.

In the snap, a mysterious figure could be seen standing in a creepy, light-filled room – in front of an old-school computer – while clutching onto a hook.

Although an official release date has yet to be announced, the caption revealed that I Know What You Did Last Summer will be ‘exclusively in cinemas’ next summer.
