Gogglebox star Sue Sheehan has revealed she is suffering from a health condition that has affected how she’s able to speak.

The sofa telly critic opened up in a recent episode as she was sat beside her husband Steve, telling fans she had been diagnosed with Bell’s palsy.

The condition, which I’m A Celebrity star Tulisa Contostavlos also suffers from, has affected Sue’s ability to speak and chew.

During Friday’s edition of the beloved Channel 4 programme, the South Londoner explained: ‘I mean, I’ve had to relearn to do a couple of things since this Bell’s palsy.

‘One is to speak through the side of my mouth, and the other one is chewing. Chewing takes a long time.’

Steve replied: ‘I have offered to chew your food for you, but you declined.’

‘I’m not having that,’ Sue hit back.

Steve went on: ‘I’ve got to say, you haven’t lost the sharp side of your tongue though, have you?’

‘No, it’s sharper than ever actually,’ Sue joked.

According to the NHS, Bell’s palsy can result in ‘temporary weakness or lack of movement that usually affects 1 side of the face’.

After sharing her diagnosis, fans rushed to share their support for Sue.

Viewer @punkybr62679560 commented on X: ‘Wishing Sue of Sue and Steve, a speedy recovery, from her bell’s palsy diagnosis.’

‘Fair play to Sue on #gogglebox for appearing with Bells Palsy. Raising awareness can only be good, speaking as someone who is (hopefully temporarily) suffering from the same after brain surgery I can imagine how much courage that takes,’ @bigtone59 wrote.

‘Sending best wishes to Sue on @C4Gogglebox who is suffering with bells palsy. She still has her sense of humour which is great,’ @traceywalker82 added.

‘All the best to Sue and big love for bringing Bells palsy to the fore,’ @spidergranny said.

‘Lots of love to Sue,’ @MitchellWebb85 added, as @kimberley48 wrote: ‘Poor Sue hope she gets better soon.’

Sue and Steve joined Gogglebox in 2019, and have become firm fan-favourites since. Sue is semi-retired, while Steve is a black cab driver, with the pair also sharing two daughters.

Gogglebox airs on Channel 4 on Fridays at 9pm.
