George Clooney has a problem on his hands; his twins are too British.
It’s not often that the A-lister, 63, who shares seven-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, with his wife, Amal Clooney, 46, talks about his little ones, but when he does, he might just offend a whole nation.
In a series of resurfaced clips from 2020 and 2023, the Wolfs actor opened up about he and the human rights barrister’s kids and how he is trying to revert their love for British slang.
Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the Academy Award winner said he had ‘problems’ with the multi-lingual twins, who at the time were only three years old.
‘I’m desperately trying not to make them little Brits,’ he said. ‘It’s not a jumper, it’s a sweater. It’s not a boot, it’s the trunk. It’s the pavement, it’s the sidewalk.’
He continued to say that he’s done ‘everything’ to try and change their slang habits and only realised how much work he still has to do when it came time for them to write a note to Santa during the festive season that year.

‘I said, “So then we’re going to leave them cookies, and my son goes, “No, it’s milk and a mince pie,”‘ the star laughed.
Like many parents, the star also spoke about how he encourages good behaviour from his kids during Christmas time and gets Santa to help him out.
‘I’ve devised a way to get them to behave. When they’re asleep in the morning and they start to make noises…and you can hear the two of them getting at each other or something, and I stand outside their door, and I go, “Oh, hey, hi, Santa.”‘
George continued to explain that outside the door, he would have a conversation with Father Christmas, where Santa says he is checking in to make sure the kids are being well-behaved.
‘And I say, “I think they are, Santa.” And you can hear them going, “We are Santa! We are!”‘ He added that once the kids come out of their room, they are ‘ unbelievably well behaved’ and joked that the trick can work on parents of a certain age as well.

In another resurfaced interview, this one from last year when George appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he spoke about how his children are multi-lingual and as well as English, they also speak French and Italian.
The children learnt the languages through their mum who also speaks them, however George is sometimes left out of the conversation as he isn’t fluent in either language.
‘I’m not a very smart person, and my wife speaks French and Italian,’ the actor said, but joked he is ‘enjoying the ignorance’ and sometimes says things to his kids jokingly trying to speak Italian or French in order to get a reaction from them.
While the American star owns a £15million manor home on the banks of the River Thames in London, he and Amal spend most of their time in Provence after purchasing a more than $8.3m (£6.64m) home in 2021.
