Palmetto Championship at Congaree Final Round Weather Update: Will It Rain on Sunday?

The Palmetto Championship at Congaree is currently taking center stage on the PGA Tour. The one-time event is happening in full swing, but Saturday’s Round 3 couldn’t be completed due to inclement weather. Four players will complete their third round with an early tee time on Sunday. But how does the weather look in Ridgeland, South Carolina, as the final round beckons?

The Palmetto Championship at Congaree has been facing inclement weather from Round 2. However, things took a turn for the worse on Saturday, as torrential rain poured down at the Congaree Golf Club. A few players could not even start their rounds and will have to play 36-holes on Sunday.

Rain was predicted to drop at Ridgeland, South Carolina, on Saturday, but it came later than expected. The tour officials suspend play at the Palmetto Championship by 5:55 a.m and unfortunately could not resume it after.

After a stretch of waiting for the weather to calm down, the officials finally suspended the day’s play at 8:00 a.m. The four players who were left on the golf course will resume their third round on Sunday at 7:30 a.m ET

How do the weather conditions look for Round 4 of the Palmetto Championship?

Here’s a quick reveal of the climax before we get into the details: There will be rain during Round 4 of the Palmetto Championship at Congaree.

The players will witness a cloudy morning at the Congaree Golf Club. But the conditions can quickly turn dry. The temperature will reach upto 84°F in the morning, with north northeast winds reaching up to 9mph.

Accuweather predicts there will be one hour of rain in the morning as there is a 40% probability of precipitation and a 26% chance of thunderstorms. Cloud cover will be 70% which means overcast conditions will prevail after a quick sunny spot.

Thunderstorms are expected in the evening as well, which is no surprise. There is a forecast of rain in the morning, afternoon, as well as evening. This implies that the Palmetto Championship at Congaree is in for a wet finish, or yet another suspension.

If the rain is too treacherous, a Monday finish is inevitable. However, if the forecast becomes true, we’d see roughly 1.5-2 hours of rain at the Congaree Golf Club. Such a dramatic ending indeed, to a one-time event on the PGA Tour.
