Everything You Need to Know About WWE NXT’s Newest Arrival, Trey Baxter

On tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, we witnessed the debut of an independent wrestling sensation. However, we bid adieu to Blake Christian and welcomed Trey Baxter, the newest addition to the brand. He debuted in a scintillating match with Kushida for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

Kushida welcomes Trey Baxter to the NXT Universe

The champion, Kushida, has been on a roll since taking the belt from Santos Escobar. The loss came as a shock, but the Japanese sensation deserved the title. Right now, the veteran is using his run as champion to welcome new Performance Center signees to the NXT roster. Last week he welcomed Carmelo Hayes, formerly known as Christian Casanova.

This week, Kushida introduced one of the independent scene’s hottest talents in Blake Christian, now Trey Baxter to the NXT Universe. The champion didn’t have to carry the newcomer through the match, but allowed a little taste of what Trey Baxter is all about, before taking the fight to him.

Insane acrobatic skills, creative spots, and death-defying dives to the floor are all a part of the Trey Baxter package. In about ten minutes, he proved to the entire Capitol Wrestling Center that he deserved to stand in there and with one of the best wrestlers in the world.

As for Kushida, beating Carmelo Hayes and now Trey Baxter is excellent practice for a giant clash with Kyle O’Reilly. Next week the two stalwarts of the black and gold brand face-off with a hungry Adam Cole lurking in the shadows.

Who is NXT’s newest addition?

Despite a promising debut, few know about Trey Baxter’s career before he arrived in WWE. Wrestling as Blake Christian on the independent scene, he tore his way through promotions and wrestlers to get to the top. We may be so bold as to say he’s one of the best high-flyers in the country.

Having wrestled in promotions like AAW, NJPW, PWG, IMPACT, and of course NXT, Trey Baxter has a ton of experience for a 24-year-old. His wrestling style is like Rey Fenix’s from AEW, busting out moves like a standing Spanish Fly, a 450 splash, and even Matrix-style dodges during his match with Kushida.

Baxter has gotten fantastic really fast, and who is to say he won’t be a champion in NXT by the end of 2021? With his girlfriend Cora Jade also wrestling in WWE, could they rise to become the power couple of black and yellow brand?
