“I’m So Hardened to Criticism”- Drew McIntyre Fires Back at Criticism About His Role in WWE

From being one of the most popular names in the WWE Universe, the character of Drew McIntyre grows stale with every passing week. Connected with the WWE title picture for over a year now, fans are growing tired of seeing ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ indulge in the same storyline over and over again.

Given that he can still put on stellar performances, fans believe WWE needs to do something different with him. Speaking on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Drew McIntyre revealed that he is aware of the criticism he has been facing lately.

“These days, because of my journey, all the ups and downs, I’m so hardened to criticism. But I never worry if it’s constructive criticism,” Drew said. “I appreciate constructive criticism. I understand some fans may be like, ‘Ugh, I’d like a new fresh face in the picture,’ perhaps.”

The Scotsman has been directly involved in the WWE Championship picture for a long time now. From the events leading up to him winning it from Brock Lesnar last year at WrestleMania to the feud with Randy Orton, to the feud with Sheamus, and now Bobby Lashley, it has been a long year for him.

However, McIntyre acknowledges the concerns of fans and agrees with them on certain aspects. He explained how the root of the criticism does not target his work ethic, but merely where it is being used.

“Realistically, I have been fighting for the title or been champion for over a year now – which is a pretty significant time – but I don’t think anyone is saying, ‘Oh my goodness, Drew’s not working as hard as he can to give us the best matches possible and do the best he can with every interview possible.’ I think it’s more, ‘I would like to see something different here and see Drew do something different over here.’” (h/t POST Wrestling)

Drew McIntyre will face Bobby Lashley at Hell in a Cell in what is believed to be his last chance at regaining the coveted title. He will ae to go through whatever it takes to put down ‘The All Mighty’, something that just may be his greatest challenge yet.

He aptly compared himself to King Robert the Bruce of Scotland as a man who never quits. However, even he knows that failure here is not an option. there can no room for error.
