Fate Brings Kevin Magnussen on the Cusp of a Re-Union With Romain Grosjean & McLaren

Danish driver, Kevin Magnussen will be driving for McLaren, but not in F1 rather in the Indycar series. Magnussen was called up for the opportunity to fill in for Felix Rosenqvist, who suffered a horrible crash at the Detroit GP.

The 28-year-old who spent seven years in Formula One will have his first stint in IndyCar and will partner alongside, Pato O’Ward. Not only that, but Magnussen will meet his ex-Haas teammate, Romain Grosjean in the series.

Kevin Magnussen to make his IndyCar debut with McLaren

As reported by Motorsportweek.com, Magnussen was brought in to fill the shoes of Rosenqvist, who had a horrible crash. Even though Rosenqvist was discharged, he isn’t fit to compete. Hence, the Danish driver was given the opportunity to drive for McLaren at Road America.

The 28-year-old driver will be reunited with his former F1 teammate, Romain Grosjean. The two spent three years at Haas, from the 2017 season to the 2020 season. Grosjean will be driving Dale Coyne Racing and will aim to have the edge over his ex-teammate, Magnussen when they go racing at Road America.

Magnussen excited for driving for McLaren once again

The 28-year-old drove for the Woking-based outfit for only a year, competing in the 2014-15 season. However, just after one year at the time, Magnussen was dropped to make way for Fernando Alonso.

In 2021, Magnussen has again gotten the opportunity to race for Mclaren in the IndyCar series and hopes to shine at the upcoming race at Road America, where he will make his debut in the motor series.

Magnussen is grateful for the chance given to him by the Papaya team but hoped it was under different circumstances, as Rosenqvist’s crash paved the way for him getting the driver. Magnussen sends his wishes and hopes that he makes a quick recovery.

The Danish driver hopes that this stint with McLaren can provide a better result compared to his time with the team in F1, where he couldn’t show his best? We will just have to wait and find out.
