A teaser trailer for the upcoming series of The Bachelor Australia has been released, and fans have praised the franchise for including a same-sex couple in the promotional video.

In the clip, upcoming bachelor Jimmy Nicholson, a 31-year-old pilot, walked through an airport as people around him embraced each other.

The new Bachelor then approached a ‘BachAir’ jet from the runway as host Osher Günsberg handed him a bouquet of red roses.

‘Fasten your seatbelts Jimmy, you’re in for the ride of your life,’ Osher said before Jimmy boarded the plane.

The video was uploaded to The Bachelor Instagram page, and a fleeting scene of two women embracing on an escalator has fans talking.

After years of fans pleading for more diversity, it appears that the Bachelor production team is finally listening.

‘This is actually so good! I love the diversity and inclusion,’ one fan gushed in a comment on the post.

‘HOW GREAT IS THIS!? best intro yet I reckon… really pulls those heart strings!’ 2018 Bachelor Australia contestant Brittany Hockley wrote.

Alisha Aitken-Radburn, who found love on the third season of Bachelor in Paradise, added: ‘SO GOOOOOD!!!’

Another pointed out that while it is a move in the right direction, there were still improvements that needed to be made.

‘The fact that the same-sex couple are white, attractive, young women says a lot,’ they said.

‘Also I do wonder just how many execs were agonising over the decision to include them at all in the 0.5 seconds they appeared.’

While some people praised the video, there were others who were left less than impressed.

‘He’s not even in the correct seat,’ said one user, referring to the cockpit seat Jimmy sat in.

‘Is it just me or is this ad quite depressing?’ wrote another, assumedly referencing that most people in Australia are unable to travel right now due to coronavirus.

The new season of The Bachelor will air later this year on Channel 10 in Australia.
