Anderson Silva on His Next Bout: ‘Maybe I Fight Very Soon’

The former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, put on a show for the fans during his boxing match against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Silva put on an exceptional performance and earned a split decision in his favor to win the contest. This was Silva’s first appearance inside the boxing ring in over 15 years and his third boxing bout.

After such an impressive showing, the questions have come up about what’s next for ‘The Spider’. Boxing and MMA fans want to see him compete again. Given he looked totally at home against a former world champion like Chavez Jr., it only makes sense the Brazilian gets back at it again.

He was asked when fans might see him back inside the squared ring again. “Well, now I go back to home. My son have a fight next soon. I go help my son,” said Silva. “I go back to help my team. Maybe I fight very soon,” he further added.

At 46-years-of age, Silva made a statement. He is a neophyte boxer and took on an opponent with loads of experience. Chavez has almost 60 pro-fights under his belt. Despite that, ‘Spider’ Silva made it look easy and his legend grew even bigger after this fight.

Silva is not the first MMA fighter to transition to the sport of boxing. However, one might argue that he put on the best show. As one who has always been known as a crafty striker, ‘The Spider’ showed a new layer to his game tonight.
