“We are Not Hollywood Actors”: Toto Wolff Regrets Christian Horner ‘Windbag’ F1 Comment

For a while, the Red Bull Flexi-wing controversy has been raging for a while. In this battle, Red Bull has been up against Mercedes. Apparently, Horner took a few potshots at Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff. Naturally, the Austrian did not take the comments lying down.

Wolff commented, “Christian is a bit of a windbag who wants to be on camera. It’s easy to be punchy when you’re on the top of the times sheets but you should be a little bit more modest.”

Now that he has had some time to calm down, he instantly backtracked on the comments. He said, “I shouldn’t have even reacted. He was rude and I reacted [to that], but in the end, I don’t care at all and I don’t pay attention. We are not Hollywood actors, well, not all of us.”

How did the Toto Wolff-Christian Horner row begin?

Back then, Horner suggested that Toto Wolff was better off keeping ‘his mouth shut’. At the same time, he highlighted that the Mercedes W12 front wing had some movement that seemed ‘suspicious’. In light of that, Wolff shot back, saying that the Red Bull team needs to be a bit more ‘humble’. This was especially considering that the outfit and Max Verstappen are leading the championship.

Without a doubt, the Mercedes team is under pressure for the first time in its Formula One career. Ever since they came to the F1 arena in 2010, they have been going from strength to strength. Under Toto Wolff, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, later Valtteri Bottas, the team dominated from 2014 onwards. However, the Red Bull Formula One team has finally stepped up to give them a challenge, along with Verstappen. Now, the two teams are expected to duke it out on Sunday at the French Grand Prix in Le Castellet.
