‘In Championship Rounds, It’s 2–1’ – Vasyl Lomachenko Breaks Down His Fight Against Teofimo Lopez

Vasyl Lomachenko doesn’t appear to have moved on from his title loss against Teofimo Lopez, which many see as a controversial decision, especially ‘The Matrix’ himself. Lomachenko believes the outcome could have gone either way. Although Lopez outclassed him frequently, the Ukrainian legend has shed a different perception on the whole fight.

Ahead of his comeback against Masayoshi Nakatani this weekend, Lomachenko has looked back at his last fight. He revealed how judges only saw the 12th round to determine the winner and ‘Loma’ didn’t seem happy about it. He spoke with Top Rank and addressed the issue.

“I understand the judges, it’s a very fast fight. They are see a pressure in the 12th round. They are see all picture in this round. Okay, I lose 12th round, Okay, but in championship rounds it’s 2-1,” said Vasyl Lomachenko.

Meanwhile, ‘The Matrix’ has demanded a rematch since losing that fight. However, Teofimo Lopez didn’t bother to respond and went ahead to defend the lightweight belts against Gere Kambosos Jr., a fight yet to happen. So, it left Lomachenko without a title-contest. However, he is still relevant in the championship ride and is just a win away from claiming the shot.

Hence, it also opens the door to a rematch between Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez. On defending his titles successfully against Kambosos Jr, ‘Take Over’ would add another big name to his resume. Meanwhile, Vasyl Lomachenko can also climb the ladder pretty fast. While the second meeting can see a different outcome to the display, here’s a recap of the first fight.
