“Always a Bit Uncomfortable”: Daniel Ricciardo on the Prospects of Changing F1 Teams Frequently

Daniel Ricciardo moved to McLaren after barely spending two seasons at Renault and before that, he was with Red Bull. However, things haven’t exactly kicked off for the Australian in his new chapter at the Woking-based team as he failed to bring in crucial results for the team.

However, the 31-year-old is self-aware and knows that changing teams isn’t that easy and will require patience. Furthermore, despite his experience around the track, Ricciardo is open to learning new things from his Woking-based colleagues.

Daniel Ricciardo admits that changing teams is hard

As quoted by Motorsport.total.com, Ricciardo said, “Changing teams is always a bit uncomfortable, even if I’ve done it a lot in the past few years. You are always forced to learn new things. (Translated from German via Google)

“But the nice thing about it is that you have a chance to learn and grow. It’s a challenge, but it pays off in the long run,” Ricciardo concluded.

The Australian has the same hunger for wins and titles

Ricciardo has won seven races during his time at Red Bull. However, when he moved to Renault in 2019, he didn’t find his mojo, though he did score two podiums next season.

Now with a new start at McLaren, the Australian is still feeling the hunger to have more wins under his belt and claim his first title.

He said, “I’ve gotten older, I’m over 30. I think I can stay here for a long time, age won’t stop me for the next couple of years. I’m still hungry and determined and can use this window in which to look around can still fight for the title.”

As of now, the Australian still needs to have his win or podium for the papaya team this season. However, Ricciardo feels with enough time with the car, he will achieve the results the team want in no time.

The upcoming race is in Austria at the Red Bull Ring. Ricciardo is confident heading into the weekend and believes he achieves better than he did in France, where he placed sixth.
