Eddie Hearn: “I Believe I’ll Work With Saul Alvarez for the Rest of His Career”

Canelo Alvarez is the biggest name in the sport of boxing today. In his vast boxing stint, the Mexican boxer has fought many opponents, and he’s already walking on the legendary pathway. Also, his boxing stint has escalated ever since he joined hands with Matchroom boss, Eddie Hearn. This is predominantly because Hearn staged his fights in the most charismatic manner, and against some stupendous contenders.

Citing that, Hearn feels he’s bonded well with Canelo over the past few months. Hence, he’s supremely confident that his relationship with Canelo will run till the latter hangs his gloves from the sport.

Talking to Little Giant Boxing, Hearn said, “I think everyone’s happy. So there’s no need for me to start saying to Saul right now, ‘You must sign a 3 fight deal, 6 fight, 7’. He’s told me I want you to work for us and keep this journey going together. And I take that extremely seriously.”

“I believe I’ll work with Saul Alvarez for the rest of his career, I really do.”

Canelo inked a two-fight deal with Hearn in January 2021. As per the deal, Hearn got to stage two of Canelo‘s fights, which came in against Avni Yildirim and the Brit Billy Joe Saunders. These were two sensational encounters.

Canelo has definitely observed the efforts Hearn has put in to turn his fights into blockbusters. That said, he is completely willing to have the Matchroom supremo in his team for his fights ahead.

Eddie Hearn is eager to see Canelo Alvarez become the undisputed super-middleweight champion

Ever since Canelo stepped up to the 168-pound landscape, he has had one goal in sight i.e. to become undisputed. He’s fared supremely well until now and is only left to fight Caleb Plant to become the undisputed king.

That said, Hearn in his above interview even asserted, “I want to pick him up and celebrate with Eddy (Reynoso) and with Saul and that comes through the Caleb Plant fight.”

With this, it’ll be intriguing to see if Canelo actually becomes the undisputed king of the 168-pound division.
