UFC Vegas 30: Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Michel Prazeres

‘Nomad’ Rakhmonov captured everyone’s attention on Fight Island in 2020 when he defeated Alex Oliveira in his debut. The slick guillotine choke submission win gave him immediate notoriety, and he was someone who has a varied skill set. The undefeated prospect will want to ramp up his activity rate in 2021 so he can ride the wave of his popularity.

Shavkat Rakhmonov’s biggest asset in the fight is his height and reach advantage. He towers over his opponent who is a former lightweight and Rakhmonov’s range striking can cause a lot of problems. If he manages to mask his boxing with well-placed kicked, there will be many openings for Shavkat Rakhmonov to exploit.

Michel Prazeres: Overcoming the odds

Prazeres is a UFC veteran since 2013 and has faced notable names throughout his storied tenure. He’s gone head to head with fighters like Kevin Lee and Gilbert Burns and he’s confident that he can come out on top. Despite having two times the number of professional wins than Rakhmonov, he’s one of the biggest underdogs on the card.

He lost his last fight via UD to Ismail Naurdiev back in February 2019 and fans will be keen to see how he bounces back. Facing Rakhmonov after a two-year layoff won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination. However, the ground tactician will be confident that he can secure his patented North-South choke and upset the odds.
