Ulrika Jonsson has claimed her stepfather banned her from cutting her hair or going to the cinema when she was young.

The TV star spoke out after Britney Spears gave a shocking testimony about her conservatorship, with Ulrika saying: ‘Control is not love.’

Ulrika said she was ‘thoroughly controlled’ by her stepfather from the age of 12.

‘I was not allowed to go to the cinema,’ she wrote in her column for The Sun. ‘I wasn’t allowed to watch Saturday morning TV. I was not allowed to cut my hair, and make-up was definitely a no-go.’

The 53-year-old added: ‘It wasn’t until I was 18 that I was allowed out — and then only ONCE a week and with strict parameters I had to adhere to. At one point, I had spent five days building up to asking if I could go to the pub for a drink with friends.’

She acknowledged that she feels he had her best interests at heart, but that the decisions often had ‘little justification’.

Ulrika’s comments come after Britney spoke out against the conservatorship which has been in place since 2008.

It has allowed her father, Jamie Spears, to have control over her finances as well as personal and medical decisions.

During the hearing on Wednesday, Britney, 39, said: ‘They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life. So I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen to what I have to say.

‘A lot has happened since two years ago, the last time I was in court. I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court last time.

‘After I’ve told the whole world I’m okay, it’s a lie. I’m not happy and I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry everyday … It’s my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back.’

Following the Toxic singer’s testimony, stars including Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton have shared their support for her.
