Here’s All You Need To Know About Sean O’Malley And His Different Hairstyles

UFC bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley is gearing up to face Louis Smolka in the main card of UFC 264 that is headlined by Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier trilogy. ‘Sugar’ will look to continue his winning form after his last match fetched him an impressive KO win at UFC 260.

The Helena native is slowly creating a niche for himself in UFC. Many term him as the next big thing in UFC and also consider him as the second coming of McGregor.

O’Malley is also a hit on social media as he constantly gives insights into his colorful life to his followers. One major change he has indulged in himself after breaking out of the Dana White contender series is his constant chopping and changing of hairstyle.

He used to have normal hair prior to his breakthrough as a bonafide star. But as he started accumulating wins under his belt, he decided to make different hairstyles synonymous with his character.

In a pre-media appearance before his scheduled fight against Jose Alberto at UFC 248, ‘Sugar’ introduced the world to his curly hairstyle. The curls remained with him until UFC 250 when he did something extra.

‘Sugar’ entered his fight at UFC 250 against the former UFC bantamweight title challenger Eddie Wineland. He was flaunting his new hairstyle on Instagram before appearing for a media conference.

At a virtual pre-fight media day, O’Malley replied to questions asked about his new hairdo. O’Malley said the dying of hair was something he considered doing for his debut appearance. However, he added he wanted to get in a few UFC wins under his belt before making a fashion statement.

Trying to please his Ecuadorian fans

O’Malley revealed a new look of hair in front of his fans ahead of his matchup with Marlon Vera. It had an Ecuadorian flag color embedded in it. Many considered it to be mental war games with his opponent, as Vera was an Ecuadorian.

“The inspiration I got to color my hair, I’d have to say was from Chito,” O’Malley said during the UFC 252 media day. ” (He) gave me the inspiration.”

“I’m just showing my Ecuadorian fans some love. I think every fight we’ll do something different and have a nice little theme. It’s something I look forward to, and it’s fun.

“I didn’t think it would really bother him,” O’Malley said. “If me changing my hair color got in his head, that might be too easy of a fight. I’m not doing it to get into his head. It’s just for fun.”

“The fans love it, the media, it’s something to talk about. (The) last time I did it, the whole fight week was about my hair. It’s something to talk about and just showing some love,” he added.

The hairstyle, however, wasn’t able to inspire him to a victory. Vera handed ‘Sugar’ his first professional loss at UFC 252.

After his moral-crushing loss at the hands of Vera, O’Malley wanted to make a statement with a comeback victory. The American then fought against Thomas Almeida at UFC 260. And he introduced another hair look.

The change in hairstyle worked for him big time as he punished Almeida en route to a third round KO victory to attain a 13th career victory.

It has become a norm for fans to expect something new from O’Malley whenever he comes out to fight. But he has something else in his mind this time around at UFC 264. He wants to fight for the bantamweight gold soon, and for that, he needs to go through Smolka first.
