Netflix US July 2021: Best new shows and films including Fear Street trilogy, Sexy Beasts and Never Have I Ever
There are so many new shows and films to watch on Netflix in July 2021 (Picture: Netflix)
Netflix has plenty of options for your viewing pleasure this month as their summer slate finally lands on the platform.
July will see a heap of new films such as the Fear Street trilogy, Gunpowder Milkshake and The Last Letter from your Lover released.
Elsewhere, this summer will see the likes of Never Have I Ever, Virgin River, and Outer Banks picked off where they left off last year.
The documentary series, Explained, also makes a return, as well as Audible and The Movies That Made Us.
So here are some of the best new releases coming to the streaming service in July.

This is the first film in Netflix’s new trilogy based on RL Stine’s teen horror novels.
Fear Street Part One: 1994 sees a group of high-schoolers accidentally coming across the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for over 300 years.
But don’t let the fact that this trilogy comes from the same creator as Goosebumps fool you – the scares that will play out aren’t for kids and will have viewers cowering in fear.
Virgin River: Season 3 (July 9)
The popular romantic drama, which is based on the popular book series by Robyn Carr, focuses on Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner and midwife who moves from Los Angeles to the remote California town of Virgin River following the death of her husband and unborn baby.
She later discovers that living in a smaller town is not all that it’s cracked up to be, while she also becomes romantically involved with bartender Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
The second season left Jack’s future on the show uncertain, as Mel discovered him lying on the floor of the bar after he suffered a suspected gunshot wound in the finale. According to Deadline, series three will include a divorce, a funeral, a fire, a hurricane, and a new romance all within the 10 new episodes.
Never Have I Ever: Season 2 (July 15)
Devi Vishwakumar and her friends are back for another season of teenage drama and awkward high school experiences.
The hit series was created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, and the pair have delivered even more of the quirky storylines that made the show such a smash hit when it dropped last March.
Devi suddenly finds herself dating two guys at the same time, and trying not to lose her chill after a pretty new South-Asian girl joins their school.
Sexy Beasts (July 21)

Sexy Beasts is a reality dating series that aims to encourage singletons to look beyond appearances by having all the participants transformed using make-up and prosthetics.
From an alien to a hammerhead shark to a devil, the daters are made to look like all manner of creatures, only being given a chance to see what their dates really look like after they’ve decided who they’ve taken a fancy to.
Given the increased popularity of The Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer, it was only a matter of time before more masked shows hit the screen… and this one looks like it’s going to take viewers on a wild ride.
Outer Banks: Season 2 (July 30)

Set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the mystery drama followed a group of wild teenagers’ attempts to find out what happened to their leader John B’s (Chase Stokes) missing father and the legendary treasure he found.
The intense finale of the first season saw John B and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) had set off for the Bahamas. The very place where Sarah’s father had sent the stolen $400 million (£322,000) in gold bullion.
In the second season, viewers jump back into the wild world of the OBX crew as John B and Sarah face danger as they track the gold – while their friends deal with other issues at home.
