Ed Sheeran has revealed he serenaded the England football team with a performance of Three Lions at a private party last month.

The 30-year-old said he was asked by his good friend Harry Kane to perform at a team BBQ, and the England teammates all huddled around and held hands in a circle as he sang during the event.

During an appearance on Crouchy’s Year-Late Euros, Ed explained to Peter Crouch that he first performed some of his own hits and a DJ set before later singing along to the football anthem.

‘At the end of the night, we’re in a circle, all hands around, I mean for me, just as an English boy, being in the centre of the England team, it was really great,’ he said.

‘I’ve had amazing moments in my life, but I don’t think there’s many moments that will top that.’

Ed also recalled the ‘confidence’ surrounding the England team ahead of their match with Germany, which took place earlier this week.

The game saw England make it through to the Euro 2020 quarter-finals after winning 2-0 against the rival team.

They have since stormed into the semi-finals after beating Ukraine 4-0 in last night’s match.

Ed explained: ‘As soon as the Germany result happened, they were just like, “We’ve got this”.

‘There was no, “Oh my God, we’re playing Germany”, there was such confidence, I loved it.’

The Bad Habits hitmaker has shown his devotion to the England team throughout this year’s Euro tournament, having attended the match against Germany, where he was spotted catching up with celeb pals David Beckham and Ellie Goulding.

He also relished in their big success against Ukraine last night, sharing an Instagram video in which he simply said: ‘Guys, I don’t know if you heard the news, but it’s coming home.’

Indeed it is.

If that wasn’t enough, Ed was also previously announced as the new shirt sponsor for his local football team, Ipswich Town FC – proving how much of a fan he is of the sport.
