Tensions within Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship perhaps reached its peak after the younger brother’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In March, Harry sat down with wife Meghan Markle to explain why they quit as working senior members of the Royal family.
However, it led to shocking revelations and claims, including that one relative made a comment about their son Archie’s skin complexion, and that Meghan had considered suicide due to the bullying she was being subjected to at large.
At one point, Harry opened up about his fraught relationship with older brother William who he had once been extremely close to.
Their bond had become sour for months but it particularly disintegrated after Harry’s big move to the US with Meghan and Archie in January 2020.
What did Prince Harry say about Prince William in the Oprah interview?
During the Oprah interview, Harry said: ‘My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave. And I have huge compassion for that.’
The Duke of Sussex continued: ‘I love William to bits. He’s my brother. We’ve been through hell together. We have a shared experience, but we were on different paths.’

‘The relationship is space at the moment. And time heals all things, hopefully.
‘There’s a lot to work through there. I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like, and Archie’s his grandson.
‘At the same time I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened.’
Harry added: ‘I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship, but they only know what they know.’
The Duchess of Sussex then added: ‘Or what they’re told.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Harry and Meghan claimed one member of the Royal family expressed concerns about ‘how dark’ their son Archie would be once he was born.
According to Meghan, the concerns were relayed to her by Harry, who had been told people were worried about ‘what that would mean or look like’.
Meghan added: ‘That was relayed to me from Harry, those were conversations the family had with him, and I think it was really hard to be able to see those as compartmentalised conversations.’

Asked whether there were concerns that her child would be ‘too brown’ and that would be a problem, Meghan said: ‘If that is the assumption you are making, that is a pretty safe one.’
Harry then added: ‘That conversation I’m never going to share. At the time it was awkward. That was right at the beginning. “What will the kids look like?”
‘That was right at the beginning when they said we weren’t going to get security. There were signs before we got married that this was going to be really hard.’
What has William said about Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview?
It was initially believed that the Royal family would not be making official statements about Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview.
However, William made the unexpected move of responding to a reporter when asked if he had spoken to his brother since the interview.
‘No, I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will do,’ he said while touring School21 in Stratford, east London, with the Duchess of Cambridge.

He then addressed the couple’s claims about the comment regarding Archie’s skin, to which William stated: ‘We are very much not a racist family.’
There have been a few signs of the brothers trying to mend their relationship, as they were spotted talking after Prince Philip’s funeral in April, and then again at the unveiling of the statue to commemorate their late mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales, in July.
William & Harry: What Went Wrong airs tonight at 9pm on ITV.
