Luka Doncic’s Father Explains How His Son Has Matured From a “Talent” in EuroLeague to a ‘Good Player’ in NBA
Does it really matter where Luka Doncic plays basketball? What matters is that whenever he does, he creates magic and not only uplifts himself but the team as well to new heights. While almost everyone else can see it too, Doncic’s father, Sasa Doncic has also seen a great deal of difference in his son since he first started off.
Luka Doncic: A grown man
Doncic may have gotten out of the NBA Playoffs sooner than expected this year too, but his performance never fails to amaze everyone. The Dallas Mavericks really gave the LA Clippers a run for their money but got eliminated in Game 7.
However, Doncic’s adventure doesn’t stop there. Right off the NBA postseason, he got onto a plane to join his Slovenia team to help them qualify for the Tokyo Olympics and did so beautifully.
So, in an interview, his father was asked, “Four years ago, Luka Doncic was a different player. When you compare him now and then, what main differences you, as a father, see first?”
Sasa had a very clear-cut response. “He grew up. He’s four years older, and he’s a man,” he said. “Before, he still was a kid. In EuroBasket, he was just a talent. Nobody knew how he will play. He really grew up and became a good player. He made himself a good player. Now I see him as a leader of this team. He’s not a kid anymore. He grew up.”

Slovenian men’s basketball team heads for Olympics
The Slovenian national team took part in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament in Lithuania. And after Doncic and his team defeated Lithuania with a score of 96-85, they secured a berth for themselves in the Tokyo Olympics. They took one of the four spots that were up for grabs.
Doncic, as usual, stole the show with his triple-double, ending the night with 31 points, 13, assists, and 11 rebounds. He shot 4-for-5 from the free-throw line and 13-for-23 from the field.

While Team USA enters the Olympics trying to take what’s there’s and go for their fourth straight championship, it seems like Doncic will be a big hindrance to that. Doncic surely has come a long way and took no time in making his name in the world of basketball.
