Why don’t Love Island contestants ever get in the pool?

Love Island is back on screens after a nearly two-year hiatus, and it’s safe to say viewers are happy for the show’s return – with dramatic exits, newcomers rocking the boat and other crazy antics already happening.

While Love Island takes over most of the summer and gives viewers plenty of ‘wish you were here’ sunny vibes, the contestants on the show always seem to fail to make the most of the pool right there at their disposal.

How come Love Island contestants rarely get in the pool?

Why don’t Love Island contestants ever get in the pool?

There’s no specific reason why Love Island contestants don’t seem keen on taking a swim in the pool – since they are allowed to use it.

Simple time constraints have been cited as a reason why we never see the Islanders swimming – with a spokesperson pointing out that ‘it’s not possible to show everything that happens in the villa’.

Although, one contestant has clearly used the pool this series, as fans online spotted a consistency error.

Brad was shown dripping wet in one scene and then immediately was shown to be looking dry as a bone.

We know it’s hot over there, but perhaps not that hot.

Otherwise they’ve been on dry land – although 2016 contestant Kady McDermott has previously shed some light on why a swim might not be so popular with the contestants.

Speaking to OK! she explained: ‘We didn’t actually get in the pool a lot because it’s so cold.

‘Because we went into the villa at the end of May and it’s just about getting in to summer, the pool hasn’t been heated or anything.’

So now you know.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
